When I try to run a full webroot update sweep it says that "connection to spyware engine has been lost or terminated. Spy sweeper will now close." It keeps doing this. What shall I do?

I am trying to insatll Webroot Spy Sweep and Windos one care does not letme do it

Well, There would be two ways to uninstall :-

1. Install registry mechanic and run. It will automatically remove all the registry errors and later on you wld be able to uninstall webroot spy sweep.

2. Download any of the uninstall software available in the market. Whenever you uninstall a software using the uninstallers, they always make sure that it wld not affect your computer.

These uninstallers are easily available on the download.com, brothersoft.com.

One of the links :-

Hope u wld be able to uninstall webroot. :)

Take care ba bye.

My webroot spy sweeper with antivirus is not working It has been 14 days since the last it has work I have already paid for this.!

This is only an idea, but if you aren't on dial-up you can download 2 very good FREE programs. Go to download.com and enter AVG Free into search, Download the file, it's about 46MB. Save it to your temp folder (right click Start/explore/ (C) / Windows / Temp make a new folder in Temp called "software' or something. Then in download.com search for ad-aware free (it's by lavasoft) Save also to (C)/windows/temp/software.

Now install. When installing AVG select advanced instead of standard when you get to the box that gives the choice, when you get to where it confirms if you want to download and install the free AVG toolbar, untick (don't install it) Select USE FREE when you get to the registration box, and also don't register your details (unless you want emails from them)
Update it but don't run a scan yet.

Ad-aware by Lavasoft. Install it. Make sure the correct plug in's are ticked or not re what email software you use when you get to that box. Don't register this one either.

When they are both installed go to the desktop, you will have two shortcut icons for Ad-aware, keep the one that looks like a green world and delete the one that looks like a sheild with a beetle on it.

Open Lavasoft and Update it.
Open AVG and Update it.

Restart your computer in Safe mode (usually by pressing F8 at startup) Run a Full Scan from Ad-aware. Select and delete Critical and Privacy Spyware when scan completes.

Run an AVG full computer scan. Delete or remove anthing found.

Restart in normal Windows. From now on keep them updated and run at the minimum weekly scans (Smart Scans in Ad-aware) These two will cover Virus and Spyware very well, you can delete or at the least disable your existing program.

Hope this helps, I have used these two free products for over 5 years with no problems. Make sure your Microsoft Updates are current.

Spy sweeper reintalled 3 times and does not work

download spybot search and destroy and run this plus download and install avg 8 it's free and run both programs offline meaning not connected to the net and once done you may try and run spy-sweeper again.

If all fails try another copy from web it may have come down corrupted.

If all is well then happy surfing but if the new copy is the same then hunt in the registry for all keys belonging to spy sweeper once you have removed it from your computer also go-to program files directory and find the folder that belongs to spy sweeper and delete folder as most of un-installers don't remove the folder to program and try installing again and if all fails then then other thing I can suggest is move all your files to a safe place and redo your operating system from scratch but after you have installed os, install spy sweeper first then any other security software before you go to net.

hope this is helpful

Go HERE and run Trend Micro Housecall on your PC. It will get rid of the viruses and spyware. Sounds like you've been hijacked.

It's Free!

It's your Webroot Spy Sweeper that's having problems - it may be related to your antivirus or firewall (try updating them), or if you're using Vista there's an incompatibility with the automatic update. Some of the possibilities can be found on Webroot's support site -

http://support.webroot.com/

Start with updating Spy Sweeper to the latest version (by manual update) and then branch out.
