Skype won't go past the initialising download stage - what do i do? there are only two options on the box - pause or cancel

If you're running Windows, just search for the "downloads" file in "my documents" and double-click the installation skype file in there.

Welcome to Fixya. This is a known issue with the latest version of Skype. The latest version of Skype won't run on Mac pc so you need to download the older version of skype. Please uninstall the Skype program on on you Mac and download the older version on the link below.

You cannot open the application Skype because it is not supported on this architecture is an error caused by Skype and not by the webcam.

Download Skype from this web page and save it on your desktop. After downloading, click on the installer icon and install the program from your desktop.

You will have to re-install the Skype application in order to get rid off the error.
Please follow the below step:
1. download and install the Revo uninstaller application online(It's free).
2. Look for the "Skype" application and select the "uninstall" option.
3. Select "Advance" scan and remove all the remaining files of skype.
4. Reboot the computer.
5. download the d3d9.dll file from the following website http://www.dll-files.com/pop.php?dll=d3d9
6. Copy the d3d9.dll file and paste it at the following location C:\windows\system32
7. You will have to register the dll file before installing the skype application. To register the dll file:
Click on "Start" menu and select the "Run" option or Simply Windows key+R
Then, type regsvr32 d3d9.dll and click 'OK" .
8. Once the dll file is registered, you can install the Skype application and continue using it.

Looking at the manual of my Whirlpool front loader gives me the following advice...

CONTROL WON’T ACCEPT SELECTIONS
1. Press PAUSE/CANCEL button on the touch-pad twice.
2. Drain the unit, then check that the drain hose and drain
pump filter are clear of foreign objects.
3. Check the touch-pad/LED assembly by selecting different
cycles and changing the modifiers and options available to
confirm the touch-pad/LED is responding.
4. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
5. Check harness connections.
6. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
7. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any
cycle

There is a problem with a circuit board it will need to be replaced. HP will have you unplug it and hold down the up arrow and cancel key at the same time while holding down the keys you will need to plug back in and turn power switch on hold down keys until you get a message let go of arrow key and cancel key let initialize . If you purchased a HP warranty it will cost you nothing to have HP send you a new or refurbished printer. If you have no warranty it will cost you around $69.00 plus tax? for shipping. That is one option the 2nd option is to take to the nearest service center which HP will let you know the closest to you charge should be free.The 3rd option is to box it up and sent it to HP you will pay for shipping and HP will pay return shipping. Please note this is a known problem.

Open Internet Explorer. Click on Tools/Internet Options/Security. You will see a button near the bottom that says "Reset all zones to default level" . Click on this button. Above it to the left, you will see a message that says Appropriate for most websites and under it Prompt prior to downloading potentially unsafe content. Click on Apply and close out the browser. Now when you attempt to download Skype or Messenger (btw Messenger can be run from the web now) you should see a yellow bar appear just under the address bar with a warning. You should be given the option to download the file. Click on download file and you should be all set.

Changing Cycles, Options and Modifiers
Not all Options and Modifiers are available with all cycles. Cycles,
Options and Modifiers can be changed anytime before HOLD TO
START is selected.
Options and Modifiers can be changed anytime after HOLD TO
START is selected and before the start of the selected Option or
Modifier.
To cancel a cycle and select a new cycle
1. Select PAUSE/CANCEL twice.
2. Select desired cycle.
3. Select the desired OPTIONS.
4. Select HOLD TO START (for approximately 1 second) to
restart the washer at the beginning of the new cycle.
To cancel a cycle
1. Select PAUSE/CANCEL twice.
2. The washer powers down, the door unlocks, and clothes can
be removed.
NOTE: If the water level or the temperature is too high, the
washer will drain automatically before the door unlocks.
To change Options or Modifiers after the cycle has started
1. Select PAUSE/CANCEL.
2. Select the desired OPTIONS or MODIFIERS.
3. Select HOLD TO START (for approximately 1 second) to
continue the cycle.
To drain the washer manually
1. Select PAUSE/CANCEL.
2. Select DRAIN/SPIN.
3. Select HOLD TO START (for approximately 1 second) to
begin the drain.
4. When the spin is complete, the door unlocks. Items can be
removed from the washer.
