Thats normal, it is reducing the built up pressure that is not needed until the trigger is pulled.

What is this problem - Karcher 3.86 electric pressure washer: humming noise, plug gets very hot, then unit shuts down?

Your pressure washer is either not fitted with a run/stop device in which case like mine you have to switch off within a few seconds of closing the trigger. Check your model features?
The humming noise is the motor stalled out against the pump because there is nowhere for the water to go. The shutoff is caused by the safety overload switching off after overheat.
Or, it has a pressure operated run/stop which is not working. Because water and electricity don't mix, I would suggest getting more specific help. You can download Karcher manuals /spares lists online from Karcher specialists but remember electricity is the silent killer.

I have Karcher 520m and when you press the trigger you can hear what sounds like a relay engaging but there is no water pressure, then it will fire up and work, but next time you press the trigger the...

The issue you are having is with the unloader valve in the pump. Now with the 520m it is a little bit harder to repair than with more gasoline powered pressure washers but it can still be done. It would be easier if I could just send you a email of the breakdown on the machine. Send me a email to justin@wmpcs.com with the discription of the problem you are having.

Hunts on and off when trigger is not depressed, checked for leaks and screen, also discharge, still does it.

There could be a small bit of grit stopping the non return valve in the inlet pipe from sealing fully which would allow a pressure drop causing it to hunt. The valve may also be just plain faulty.and require replacement.

Low pressure on the pressure washer

Most likely your "O" rings or seals have gotten hard and are leaking. Sorry I don't know your equipment well enough to tell you how to change them but you can most likely find the info at your manufactures web site.

I have a Karcher KB5050 it started to pulse when the trigger stopped

Is there water leaking from the bottom ? If so, then you have a leak in the pump. Bad seal or crack in the Pump.
If under 1 year old and have a receipt, Call Karcher for a warranty replacement.

The washer hunts when trigger released

hi, if you have the smallest of leaks on the outlet side of the machine then the machine will hunt.
if not that, then you have a non return in the outlet of the machine, the non return has got a little o.ring which is most probably worn.

Losing pressure somewhere

Hi, I work in the italian factory of Karcher. In my opinion the problem is caused by the breaking of the collector. This is a black component of plastic where is inserted the detergent suction valve and the safety valve. To replace this component you have to go in a repair center Karcher.
