Question about Epson RX620 All-In-One InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Epson RX620 Would you happen to know the procedure for bypassing the ink pads in the printer. It looks like the "waste ink well" that you can buy from ebay is nothing more than a hose and a coupler running into a gladware container. Now I just need the directions. thanks

How do you know when the waste pad is getting close to full?
I downloaded the SSC which shows a waste pad use/fill number but it doesn't show what the limit of that number is.

@fransser: All the information you need is provided from this forum thread

It's pretty simple stuff if you have the necessary parts (tubing, container, etc..) to hand but if you want something a little more refined there are kits out there :-)

@rudyannall: The SSC utility won't give you that information unfortunately... If you can locate a copy of the official service engineers Adjustment utility then that can sometimes provide a capacity reading which can help but overall the best way to tell is when the "Service Required" message pops up.

Service required. Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life.... Can I temporarily bypass this? It is locked.

Hi,

You can bypass this termporarily by resetting the waste ink counter as described here:
http://www.continuousink.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4141

That link also provides information on how to resolve the more long term issue of further waste ink build up. In short you will need to think about redirecting waste ink flow to an external tank or get the printer serviced to replace the pads.

Hope that helps.

Need to replace ink pads for epson stylus rx620.printer. Where to buy and how to replace?

You don't need to buy the pad. Just wash with hot water. Is there a message to replace waste ink pad?. You need to reset waste ink counter. Use SSC utility to reset it. Extend outlet pipe to outside. You don't need clean pad again. If you wish to wash or replace pad, you must open case and diasemble all mechanics. Find SSC at indoreset.blogspot.com. And printer diagram at printersiam.com

Re.ink pad

Waste Ink Pads. They need to be cleaned/replaced and the counter reset. Look at the Ink Waste Container kits here. Get a CISS for your printer. It will save you TONS of MONEY, never change a cartridge again and it will pay for itself in a month.

Possible to soak up excess ink on the 'pads'?

Hi Macddcam...

You have to remember that the pads are designed to be ultra absorbent so it's going to be very difficult to get them to give up their ink unless you have something even more absorbent.

Trying to mop up or syringe out pads is really a bit of a losing proposition in terms of time, effort and ink mess so really the smarter option is to redirect the waste flow (ie: install an external tank) and allow the ink base (ie: water in the RX620) to slowly evaporate off over the course of the printers life..

If you need information on the process for the RX620 then you can find it here

Service required parts inside your printer are at the end of there service life.seer your printers documentation for details

Hi, I had the same problem with my RX500.

All you need to do is perform a reset, by pressing and holding the "Stop", "B&W", and "Power" buttons all at the same time and holding them down for at least 10-15secs. It may take a few goes as there's a bit of a nack in getting the buttons pushed at the same time.

Let me know how you get on.

RX620 Error Message

This message comes up after about 40000 registers on a use counter. I posted what I did on the Epson RX620 forum. Look it up. Basically I bought a repair manual on the net for about $10.00 I used this to take the RX620 apart down to the waste ink catch pads which I removed cleaned dried and replaced. It was a long job the first time and you need the manual in order to figure out how to do it. My pads were only about 1/3 used but I live in a dry climate. So punch those override buttons and keep going. You might put a plastic sheet or pan under the printer to catch the waste ink when it actually does leak out.
