without seeing it (a picture) that is a difficult question to respond to. it may have possibly broken or a piece of plastic needed to keep it in place broke - or the spring is defective. suggest get a new basket. (or go to the store, or find a neighbor with a similar model - and look at his basket, take a pic of the spring mechanism with your cellphone and go home to fix your own.)
Check to see if there's a little piece that broke off from the door. This would be the "safety interlock switch" or little thingy that pushes down the basket sensor. The basket sensor is located on the bottom front of the shredder. I bent a paper clip to hold down the metal switch (basket sensor) and taped it to the front of the shredder with scotch tape.
I had the same problem. I super-glued the pieces togeter and allowed them to dry completely (over night). Then I super-glued two strips of plastic perpendicular to the original brake and allowed to dry completely. It has worked for several years without difficulty. I was unable to find the broken part. However, if I had a plastic injection moulder, I would make them and sell them for $20 each; free postage. Good Luck David
We have a similar, though not identical Maytag/Whirlpool refrigerator with bottom freezer. My comments refer to our specific freezer, it is possible that there is some variance in the freezer baskets. Although it LOOKS like you ought to be able to adjust the divider from side to side, with our basket, you CANNOT. the key is to look at the spacing of the wire pieces that make up the basket body. On ours, the spacing at the center, where the divider is factory mounted, is wider than all the adjacent wire pieces. This means that in locations other than the center, the divider does not fit. We just removed the divider to give more flexible placement of items. To remove the divider I suggest first pulling the entire basket out of the freezer. Take your food out so you can turn the basket sideways, and you will see the clip mechanism that is built-in to the divider itself. You need to use a flat screwdriver or similar tool to flex the inner part of the clip back and then wiggle the divider until it pops free of the basket. Repeat process on the other end of the divider.
I had this same problem. This is what I did to fix it.
When I went to ShredCare.com (the recommended web site for technical support of this particular shredder), I read that 'Most models of shredders have a safety interlock switch that is activated by the basket.' Upon looking closely at my basket and the shredder, I found this safetly interlock switch and made sure to align it with the proper position within the basket. There is only ONE way to place the shredder on the basket and have this safety interlock switch activated. The switch is located on the underside of the shredder. Align this switch with the ridge on the inside of the basket. Listen carefully and you will hear the switch 'click' when in the right position. Mine is very touchy. I've even had to press in on the side of the basket while shredding to make sure that the ridge and the switch are making contact.
Power window cable broke off. Drivers door. Do the cables sell seperate, or do I have to buy the motor with the cables and were does the cable attach to the window. It looks like a plastic clip broke off, Dennis
smirkin, the question here is if the basket is listing against the tub or the whole tub and basket is listing. If the basket is listing and banging around it could be the drive block has worn or broken. I will attach a photo of one. If the whole tub is listing it could be a spring that broke. You can remove the front panel of the washer by pressing in on the two clips on each side of the washer top, The front panel should drop and pull out. You can see if any of the suspension sprins broke. The drive block is located under the basket. The agitator and basket have to be removed to change it out. Take a look at the attachments...Catriver..post back
