Question about Olympus Camedia C-765 Digital Camera

Battery runs out too quickly

Hi, I have an Olympus CAMEDIA C-765 since 2004. Everything fine until this year, when the battery seems to run out after just a few shots. I thought that the batteries were dead so I bought a couple of new ones but the same problem happens. They take a while to recharge, which seems to me that they were empty. But they run out almost as soon as you start taking pictures. Is there any solutions or should I just think of buying a new camera? Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem but i figured out a pretty decent soloution. It's sort of a hassle, but it conserves your battery life dramatically. All you have to do is take out the battery (which is kinda fun if you ask me) and store it somewhere safe while not using the camera. You should even do it if you are only leaving it off for a short amount of time. i figured that the camera unintentionally drains your battery life even if off, but obviously cannot when it is out of the camera. i hope this helps you as it did me!

Olympus C-765 - won't take photos anymore. Memory card is fine and camera has worked perfectly for the past two years. Does anybody have a solution? The camera seems to function as normal, but when I press...

Reset the menus to default or factory settings.
Then test the camera again.
Make sure that the battery is fully charged or new.
You might consider to buy a new battery (Ebay is a good place) for this camera. Then test.
Problems like this can show up when the battery is weak or not fully charged.
You may try to remove the battery for 24 hours and then after try it again.

Battery goes flat very quickly

Rechargeable batteries don't last forever.

It's most likely that yours just needs replacing with a new one, but beware ultra-cheap generic copies: they're a lot cheaper, but often do not hold the stated charging capacity and usually the performance falls off far more quickly than the genuine Olympus article. If you're happy to carry a few spares and to replace them more often they can still be a sensible choice though as the genuine article is usually ridiculously overpriced. Avoid used Olympus batteries as you won't know whether they're any good until you've paid for them: worn out batteries look exactly the same as good ones, and good used ones can very rapidly progress to being worn out.

The other main possibility is that the charger has become faulty but unless abused chargers are usually highly reliable. If you know someone who uses the same battery in their camera you can check this by asking them to recharge your battery; you'll also find that some of the ultra-cheap compatible batteries often come with a charger as well, but don't expect it to charge as quickly as your Olympus model.

Hi, my DV9700 battery does not charge, adapter works but does not charge or run the computer on its own. I have had it checked and everything seems fine, they suggest the motherboard but I explained that...

This may sound stupid but try this, for some reason this seem to work on 6 and 9000 units with charging problems.
With the unit running, disconnect the battery and allow the unit to run for 60 seconds, then plug the battery back in, again with the unit running.

My olympus isn't turning on

Try putting in regular batteries and see if it will turn on. The rechargeable batteries might be over-taxed and won't recharge. My Olympus camera works just as good on regular batteries as on the rechargeable ones. It is easier to come up with regular batteries than having to always run to the docking station to recharge the original batteries.

I hope this works for you.

C-8080 Turns off/on randomly..

Hi Galaxy,

Try running camera directly on DC from charger and see if it stays functioning.
If it does, they you either have:-
1) a faulty Lion battery
2) the battery detect circuit in the camera is faulty (reporting low battery and forcing shutdown)
3) the power switch on top of the camera may be leaky or partially collapsed
4) internal power supply circuit in camera has developed a fault.

Good luck...hope that the issue is the battery.

Try using brand new fully charged rechargeable batteries like NiMH or NiCd. Also try viewing though the computer via USB.

Power zoom not working

If you dont have rechargable NiMH batteries get these first. Alkalines just dont have the power anymore these newer devices need. If you do have NiMH and yours still having problems try and tap on the lenses as you power it on. As the motors that drive the autofocus and the lens mechanisim wear they draw more current. When this happens the unit draws more power then the batteries can supply and you run into problems. If your camera has a battery pack you may need a new one. They test them new and everything is good on paper but after some use things change.
