Question about Canon PowerShot A530 Digital Camera

1 Answer

My camera will not power on

I keep my camera in my "important papers drawer" and I rarely use it. I went to have some pictures developed 2 days ago and it worked fine before hand, I viewed all the pictures i wanted to print and I took a couple more pictures that same day. Now my camera will not power on AT ALL. I thought that it was the batteries because they where low when i developed my pics. so i replaced them and i still get nothing!!! Is there any solution for this??? Please help me, I'm pregnant and i really wanted to take pics!!

Screen went black, except for narrow band at top

If your camera is not dead, It is surely dying. Perhaps just a flat cable lost connection inside your camera, But more likely the electronics is on the end of life. My DX7590, started to act strange a few year ago, but I managed to shoot pictures still. I could not look back what I had shot, but I still made lots of pictures, till also shooting was impossible. (I could get the pictures from the memory card with an external card reader on my computer. My next step was again (a better) compact, but since over 2 years now I'm using a DSLR. I have learned a lot about digital photography with my Kanon camera's.

When reviewing a picture on the camera, fine white lines appear in the picture similar to venetian blinds.

The same problem occurs when view the pics in pc monitor? If yes, sound like a malfunctioning CCD-image sensor. Rare, but possible problem with your LCD screenviewer... in both cases (LCD or CCD) this isn't a job that you could solve yourself; this wrong include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

I suggest check THIS LINK for additional details in this previous solutions for an Defective CCD (Charge Coupled Device) and next contact your Samsung service.
I strongly suggest (taking into consideration the age of your camera) to evaluate the cost of repair versus the cost of a new camera with similar features, before making a final desicion.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

My Kodak EasyShare C142 keeps telling me that it cannot read the 2G memory card. I have had the same memory card since I bought the camera new 2 months ago I just took pics with it 2 days ago and when I...

The card may have become corrupted. Use a separate card reader and download any pictures from the card. Then, insert it into the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions.

All my pictures on camera are gone! How do I "see" the card on my mac computer to find them again?

When you import pictures into iPhoto there is a setting for deleting the imported pictures from the camera. Be sure to uncheck that setting if you want to keep the pictures on the camera after importing them into iPhoto.
To see the pictures (if any) without iPhoto, obtain a SD card reader (as little as $2 on Amazon) and plug the card from your camera into it, and the adapter into a USB port on the camera.

C-8080 Turns off/on randomly..

Hi Galaxy,

Try running camera directly on DC from charger and see if it stays functioning.
If it does, they you either have:-
1) a faulty Lion battery
2) the battery detect circuit in the camera is faulty (reporting low battery and forcing shutdown)
3) the power switch on top of the camera may be leaky or partially collapsed
4) internal power supply circuit in camera has developed a fault.

Good luck...hope that the issue is the battery.
