Question about Archos 605 Digital Media Player

Tv update won't download it starts but stills out after day 1 it also doesn't update the time or access the content portal. I have tried to reformat the hard drive but the same thing keeps happening.

Sansa e260 says cannpt load image switch to recovery mode


download the update software and install then.. lock your sansa, hold in the rec key on the left at the same time push the menu/power button this will take you to recovery mode then connect to the computer... Download the sansa update software

You may need to make sure you are connected to a 2.0 USB port if your computer is not IDing it, try a friends computer or a labtop... USB modes msc...

Aspire 5610 won't go past stage 3 configuration update


If you need to reformat the system, you can usually access Acer's built-in eRecovery by pressing Alt-F10 at the splash screen. Just bear in mind that restoring the system to factory specifications will erase the contents of your hard drive, so please ensure that your important data is backed up before doing so.

The "Vista Boot Loop" is a known issue though, but does have a solution, see here

If you are unable to use the repair portion of those steps, there is another workaround, but requires the use of other bootable media, such as Ubuntu (which you can download for free here). From there, try following these steps to get the pending.xml file renamed (see Comment #12 specifically, when using Ubuntu)

If you can solve it using the latter method, then you can get back into the system without having to reformat the entire hard drive and starting over.

When live update fails, it is most likely due one of the following reasons:
· No license file (*.slf) is installed
· The installed license file (*.slf) has expired
· The trial period has expired
· The installed license file (*.slf) has been deleted, or become damaged or corrupted
· The software is not able to able to communicate with the Symantec servers

No license file (*.slf) is installed
It is necessary to have a valid license file installed into the program to authorize it for the download of the content updates using Live Update.
It is necessary to register your license(s) at the Licensing Portal (https://licensing.symantec.com/) to generate the license file if it was not included with your license certificate (*.pdf).

The license file (*.slf) has expired
It is required to have a current support contract to be authorized to have the most current content updates downloaded. If you have renewed your support contract, it is necessary to register your license(s) at the Licensing Portal (https://licensing.symantec.com/) to generate the new license file if it was not included with your license certificate (*.pdf).
This could also be the case if you have a current support contract, but had a trial license key installed in the software. It is necessary to register the support contract renewal to generate the new license file.
The trial period has expired

Many of Symantec's products offer a limited-time trial period where you can test the software in your environment. When the trial period expires, the software will typically cease to function as part of the Trialware installation agreement.

The installed license file (*.slf) has been deleted, is damaged or corrupted

The software is unable to communicate with the Symantec servers
The Symantec software must be able to establish a connection to the servers to be able to download the current content updates. If the software is unable to establish the server connection, then it will not be able to download the content updates.
You would need to check your network security settings to ensure the network traffic is not being blocked. If you believe your network's security settings might be blocking the Symantec software from communicating to the Live Update servers, contact Symantec Technical Support for assistance. Archos driver and content portal


I think that the driver update that you're talking about is the firmware update, it is free to get the update through the archos website. All of the songs from itunes can't be put onto the archos. If you want the content portal you must purchase the cinema plugin. (that's the way archos designed the product) Your archos must be set on window media player first, before you can put your songs onto it, go to menu, click system and choose window media player and you can transfer your songs. Call tech support at archos 18773008879. This should help.

HDD Corrupt


I have the XS35 and the HDD drive is curropt. Can I do the following?

1. Download the Toshiba firmware update:

2. Burn the ISO to a CD-R disc. ImgBurn is an excellent free burner for this.

3. Insert the CD in your unit. It will auto-install the firmware. Follow onscreen instructions. Takes about 10 minutes total.

After the update, my existing HDD shows are playable again, and I can record and playback from the HDD. I bet it would be a good idea to periodically backup your shows on DVDs, and regularly reformat the HDD.
