After starting car it sputters and white smoke from exhast. I drive the car for 5 min, sputtering the whole time, and turn it off - will not start until it is cranked and gas pressed for couple min. Then after getting started it will sputter until it is running for about 10 min and then runs fine.

Your head gasket has a break in it,and ,or a cracked head. Be careful
not to let the engine overheat, and cause severe engine damage. I'd
suggest not using the vehicle, until you have it repaired. Good luck.

So this only happens when the vehicle sits overnight or for a few hours? Either way have a compression test done sounds like you may have a bad head gasket, or valve seals. White/blue smoke oil burning, white/grey coolant, black smoke, is a fuel problem.

White smoke is usually from water and water will make the car splutter. Did you get water in your tank at some time. If you have water in your fuel, you will have to drain the tank and refill with good fuel. The engine will run fine once it is hot but if a lot of water goes into a hot cylinder it can cause a lot of damage.

Sputtering while driving and running funny.

It could be a clogged fuel filter or you could have a old gas coated inside the carbrator. Seafoam will fix that up in a hurry. Don't be supprised if it blows smoke its cleaning all the junk bout of your carbrator. I would start with the simpelist things first. Fuel filter Check your carbrator Throttle adjustment Fuel pump relay Defiantly get a Haynes manual it will trouble shoot you through your problem.

Hesitating, has white smoke, and now sputtering

White smoke + engine not fully working = head gasket failure. Replace it.

It sputters and wont go

it could be a few different things. dirty fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, fuel injectors, etc. just to name a few. its best to start with a tune up and go from there.

Engine sputters then dies

sounds like your fuel pump is bad, it will sputter or be hard to start because there is no pressure. if it doesn't start have someone hit the fuel tank from the bottom while you try to start it, if it starts right up then you know you need a new fuel pump.

93 honda civic ex sputtered and died while driving

Is there any white smoke coming out the exhaust? Sounds like the same problem my friend had when he warped his head on his 91 civic. Any overheating at all? Otherwise another guess would be maybe a bad catalitic converter that clogged up. Hope this helps any, good luck
