Use the Windows Explorer and highlight all the files to move and select (right-click) cut. highlight the drive to get files and select (right-click) paste.
U can create new folder prior to paste and then paste files to this folder. Use the file on menu to create new folder.

Can not fine away to retreive two deleted file that came with the pc

Hi shorty 58, thank you for using fixya.

any file created in roxio creator can be found or retrieved even if it is deleted. This can be done with the use of a file recovery software. specific to most roxio created files I have gone through is Recover My Files. (just click on the link and use the free trial). You may run that on your computer and just look for the file created through roxio.

should you have other question, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Regards,

Voodoo

My maxtor external hard drive has done a scheguled Plan b backup but files that I removed from my master hard drive to free up space because I had them saved on my external hard drive are now missing from...

When a file is delete, it's still there on the drive, just as before; all that happens is that the file table marks it as free space and changes its name so it's no longer visible. There are a number of "undelete" utilities available, including several good ones, like asoftech data recovery that helped me before:

I have a maxtor external hard drive on drive f,I have moved my home movies onto this drivefrom my documents,if I then try to delete these from my documents it also removes them from my f drive to,the idea...

Now, when you "copied" the files how did you do it? Are you sure you didn't create shortcuts, then transfer those to the new hard drive?
If you're not sure, try opening two windows, 1 being your "my documents" folder and the other being the "f" drive. Put them side by side. Now highlight all the files you want to copy (hold down the ctrl key on the keyboard to make multiple selection) and once all the desired files are highlighted, drag them over to the other open folder (f drive). This should make independent duplicates of all the files.
I apologize if i sounded condescending, i'm just unsure of your skill level.

Maxtor hard drive installation

Its a long process! First you have to transfer your saved files to disk. CD,DVD, or Floppy. Insert your copy of windows Install disk and turn your computer off and then back on. When Windows asks you if you want to repair or install a fresh version of windows, click fresh version. Have your copy of Serial Numbers ready for your Windows disk. Somewhere in the installation Windows will ask you if you want to install windows to the same drive? Delete this Partition? or Create a Partition?, Know how many Gigabyte or Megabyte your Hard drive is. Click on Delete Partition, Your Hard Drive is now Un-allocated. Now Click Create Partition and enter the amount of Bytes you want to allocate to C: drive, Usually half of what the computer is showing you what you have. Now you have a primary drive of C: and Un-Allocated space, Scroll down with your arrow key and select the unallocated drive and click create drive, the remainder of bytes on your drive will be allocated to that drive and assigned a different drive letter. (D) or what ever. Go back up to C: drive and say install windows to that drive, and from there just follow the windows installation. Good Luck.

After following the on-line instructions I replaced the USB cable that came with the Maxtor with a difrent one and now the drive works as it should. I do not know what the problem is with the original USB cable.
Thanks for the follow-up

use your task manager to see if it is actually doing anything.Right click the task bar and select task manager,,,at the bottom of the task manager it will tell you how much CPU,Memory, and how many processes are running. You can look at the processes and see exactly which ones are using the CPU.Another way to get to the task manager is control+alt+delete click in that order and continue holding down each key untill you have pressed all the keys, then release all three at the same time.
