thank you for your prompt reply.
I have noticed that sometimes some of the frozen veg eg. peas corn feel like they are thawing. Maybe It might have something to do with 16 days of 35c and above, Adelaide weather really sucks lol. Anyway that info has helped me a lot. So I do not need to turn the dial as the freezer will turn back on by itself, is this correct. Have I changed the cut off time now that I have turned the dial and if yes how do I correct this.
Again thank you very much, looking forward to hearing from you again.
    Trevor.

That's the defrost timer it should cut off for thirty minutes for every eight hours of compressor time for self defrost now compressor time is not regular time as the thermostat shuts the compressor off every now and the when the freezer reaches proper temputure it works off accumulated run time and no you didn't turn anything that will hurt are you having problems with it cooling or you just noticed it was off

My Westinghouse Freestyle Freezer FJ383 wobbles on the floor. How do I fix?

There are feet on each coner that can be turned to make them go up or down. you may need a person to slightly lift or tilt the unit and a pair of strong pliers to get the feet turning.

Freezer not working

Your refrigerator has a Control-defrost,adaptive timer ,PC board part number 241508001
This is providing your model is the one listed above your post WRS3R3EW. The model you listed in post does not come up. Until we can determine that the freezer is not defrosting you need to unplug and remove the back panel of freezer compartment to see if the evaporator coils are frozen or clear. If frozen this alone will cause a chain reaction that keeps vents to fresh food compartment open and cause freezing in that area. Go to link below and enter model number WRS3R3EW0 Then you will see a list of diagrams on left side, chose #11 this will show the control parts. Click link below Thanks, Sea Breeze

Fridge freezer not cooling

(bad news) Repair man came today and said the compressor has died ;- (

(good news) Westinghouse will replace compressors less than 5 years old with a new one, just ring them with your serial number (inside front door) or supply a receipt and you only have to pay for the labour ;-)

Top half fridge not cold freezer department fine

I had the same problem; the top fridge compartment was warming up to 14C while the freezer compartment was starting to defrost (frozen stuff was starting to become soft. I took the rear wall off the freezer compartment and found it all iced up. I defrosted it with a blower heater then powered it back up. It all worked fine for a month when the same thing happened. I figured that the defrost cycle wasn't working. I located the defrost timer on the rear right-side of the fridge. I rotated it several times and found that the fridge was turning on and off. I rotated it until the fridge turned off. I waited 5 minutes then stuck my head into the freezer compartment and felt the rear wall at the bottom where he drain is; it felt warm so I guessed the defrost heater element was ok. I ordered a defrost timer and installed it. I haven't had a problem since.

Bottom freezer works; Top fridge too warm

The defrost timer is about 6 inches square and about 2 inches thick. It could be located under the box, in front or back. Some models of Whirlpool and Kenmore locate it behind the cover over the light inside the box. Westinghouse is often inside the cooler compartment, in the top. Some Gibson boxes put it in the back, about chest high. It's often hidden, but every self-defrosting refrigerator has one, except for a few models of Whirlpool and Kenmore with factory-installed ice makers — these models have an icemaker which also has the defrost timer built into it. The timer will have a stem that protrudes, or may be flush, which you can turn using a large blade screwdriver. Mark the position with a pencil, then turn it until it "clicks." This should start the defrost mode. The defrost mode will continue for 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the design. If after 20 minutes, the refrigerator has not restarted, or the timer stem has not moved, the timer is bad. When replacing the timer, you must use the correct one. There are about a dozen different configurations with even more types of connections. I suggest you order the part by make, model number, and serial number of your refrigerator to make sure you get the right one. Depending on your brand, and where you purchase the part, the price may be from $20 to $40 for this part.

You can test the termostat, just see if the fridge goes on and off..
If it goes off then the defrost heater sould go on.
The best way is to replace both the timer and thermostat...

if a evaporator gives any problems then the fridge wont cool down.

Hope this helps..

Regards.

Wouter.
