Hp pavilion zv6000 Start up problem - Computers & Internet

Have a 2-3 year old zv6000 laptop. Working fine until last night. Clicked ok to windows update and it froze. Powered down and rebooted. All goes well until about 30 seconds after wallpaper comes up. Machine freezes and fan kicks on high.

I restored last good configuration, no help. Booted to safe mode. In control panel hardware devices, HID compliant user interface had a problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled, no help. I use a MS usb mouse. Removed it and rebooted, no help. Everything works great in safe mode.

I have model zv6000 notebook pavilion. All of a sudden my computer says that I do not have audio. I had been using skype and now I can't. How do I fix the audio problem

As I was saying, (the chat window closed) try using Windows System Restore.
Go to: Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools and then on System Restore; then click on a date previous to when you had the problem, it is like a time machine that takes the PC back to how it was that day, don't worry it won't affect your data, only installed programs from that date on.

Do you have a Windows XP disk?  If so, insert that to complete the installation.  If that doesn't work, try using this link to download SP3.
