I have and Canon iR3570 and when SNMP is disabled the printer goes offline and network printing ends. Enable SNMP and change the default community to something more secure and printer goes offline and...

It's possible that the SNMP Status Enabled box is checked on the print server (Printer/Properties/Ports/Port Settings). When you disabled SNMP or changed the community name on the printer, the server was no longer getting status updates and so flagged it as offline. Make sure the community names match.

DLINK DP-300U. Desktop shows printer offline, Laptop prints OK.

First thing.. plug printer directly into PC.. does it work? .. if so its is a port setting. If now it is the device config on PC

If Port Setting Issues.. are you going through any other devices on the network or is you firewall blocking the IP.

If device Config issue check to see it is setup up as an IP Port not a normal local port

DEVICE STATUS OFFLINE

To solve this problem you'll need setup the printer up with LPR Protocol. Go to Devices and Printers. Right-click on the printer in question select Printer Properties. Go to the Ports tab. Find the port you've setup then click on Configure Port. In the block titled Port Name you'll need to enter the name of the Gigafast Print Server. It's normally 1P_PrintServ??????. The ?s are the last six entries of the print server's MAC address. Next, in the Printer Name or IP Address enter the assigned IP address, example (192.168.5.3). For the Protocol select LPR. LPR Settings: Queue Name: same as 1P_PrintServ??????. Lastly, check the box that says LPR Byte Counting Enabled. Now when you shutdown and restart the printer will remain online.

Printer Offline

If your problem still persists then If the printer and the printserver is on and connected to the printserver and the router respectively. Then try right clicking on the printer icon in the printers and faxes window to set it online. Try Printing. If it did not work, then right click on the printer icon again > Properties > Ports > set the proper network port. Apply the settings and try Printing.
