Question about Lexmark X340n All-In-One Laser Printer

1 Answer

Scanning I have a 3400 seris all in one, and it won't scan. I don't have the internet on my computer yet does this affect the scanning, I dont think the imaging center is loading correctly either. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the software. What else can I do to correct the issue.

My all-in-one Leximark 3400 is not working. It says that I need a USB port card which I have, and it was working at first. If I see the USb Host Controller and the UBS Root Hub listed the UBS port is probably enabled.

Please appreciate the complexity of your question. There are many questions I would need to ask in order to be TRULY effective. I don't mind trying. I must assume that you were scanning to email otherwise your internet service provider's downtime would have no affect on scanning merely to a file on your pc. If indeed you feel confident that the ISP's downtime caused the problem then call them and tell them what happened. Many ISP's are making changes (like your SMTP port which handles email) and are not effectively informing customers. When they do this (and the "downtime" makes me wonder) it will stop your ability to scan to email. They are changing the SMTP port in an effort to minimize spam and maximize security. All well and good. But if they have and you either were not informed or missed the heads up then they need to help you. And they will. It ain't fun dealing with customer service (pinheads) but its free and it is their obligation. However, if you are scanning DIRECTLY to a file on your pc, no email, then your ISP did nothing to tamper with that.

Takes 45 minutes for one scan!

You must have been scanning using large DPI settings. Try to use 100 DPI for scanning. Also make sure that you have alot of free memory on your system. Hard drive space also affects the speed of the scanning. If you are using a parallel printer port for your scanning, this will contribute to the slowness of your scanning.

I hope this helps. Have a nice day.

My Lexmark P4350 printer is not scanning images to my computer?

To scan a document, please follow the steps given below:

1. Go to "Start," "All Programs," Lexmark 4300 Series, "Lexmark All-in-One Center."
To see how an image will look after it is scanned, click "Preview Now."
2. Click "Scan," "Send scanned image to."
If scanning an image, choose a graphics program such as "Lexmark Photo Editor," "MS Paint," etc.
If you wish to "Scan to OCR," choose a text program such as "MS Word," "WordPad," etc.
Once the image is scanned, the "Abbyy OCR" software will open automatically.
3. To begin the scanning process, click "Scan Now."
4. To view the additional options, click "See More Scan Settings."
To indicate what type of image is being scanned, select the "Option" next to the type of object you are scanning. Your settings will be optimized for that object type.
To indicate how the scan will be used, select the relevant option from the menu. Your resolution and other settings will be optimized based on your selection.
5. To revert back to the normal All-in-One main page, click "Hide Extra Scan Settings."
6. Under "Display Advanced Scan Settings"; you can see change settings, which will affect the outcome of your scan.

you may wish to check to see if you need to plug this directly into the wall socket, instead of a power strip. that can affect certain scanning functions(don't ask me why, you may not like the answer).
