not very clear but this may help.
1) make everthing is connect physically....make sure modem is connected to your router....then check that your router is connected to your laptop...everthing physically.

2) after you made sure everthing is connected. look underneath the router and look for and something that start with http://192.168.0.1

3) now go to your laptop and open up your web browser and type http://192.168.0.1 ....select "Admin" as username and dont type anything for password. then click on "log in"

4) then when you log in. click on "setup"which should be on top of the page....then select "internet" from left side of the page.

5) click on "setup wizard"

6) Click "Launch Internet Connection Setup Wizard"
7) click next
8) setup ur password
9)select your time zone...the click on next
10) then if your internet connection isnt detected you will need to select the company that provides you ur internet...if u dont find it then select "not listed or dont know"
11) also make sure you select "DHCP Connection (Dynamic IP Address" click next
12) click on " clone your pcs mac address"
13) u dont have to type in "host name"...click next
14) next now the wizrd should b complted and "connect"
15) now u shoudl have internet on any computer that is physically connected to the router with a ethernet cable.....but no wireless internet yet....now we are about to set it uo

1) click on "setup" on top of the page
2) click on "wireless settings"
3) click on the box next to "Enale Wireless"
4) type in a name in "wireless network name" for example "gary's wifi"
5) in "802.11 mode" i suggest picking "mixed cause you might have 802.11b in an old laptop and 802.11n in the newer laptops....with mized mode they will all be able to connect no matterif they are b,g, or n
6) den click "save settings" on top of the page...and NOW your wireless device should be able to connect to your wifi...BUT....remember we didnt put a password...so anybody around your house will be able to use it....if thats find with your then your done....if not then select wat type of security you want wep,wpa,wpa....and make a password..hopes this helps....let me know how it went.

Hi! I can't connect to the internet wirelessly using a WRH54G. connection status is "limited or no..." when on dynamic IP. status says connected when a static ip is assigned. tried pinging the router and I...

"Limited or no conenctivity" means that the network key(security password) that you typed when connecting to the wireless network is incorrect. Try connecting the laptop to the router using an ethernet cable to check whether you can get online. Access your router's setup page to check your network key.

How to access the router's setup page :
1. Using a wired computer, pull up internet explorer or any browser.
2. On the address bar, type in 192.168.1.1 (default IP)then press enter. It will then ask you for a username and password. If you havent changed the settings, username should be left blank and the password is admin.
3. On the black bar on top of the setup page, click on the Wireless Tab. Then on the purple bar, click on Wireless Security.
4. On the Wireless Security page, you will then be able to check your network key.

Win xp desktop connected to wrt54gs router wants laptop running win 7 to connect wirelessly

We need to know the wireless settings on your router before configuring the laptop.

To check the wireless settings, access the setup page of the router by using the desktop's internet browser. In the address bar, type 192.168.1.1.

Default login is: leave the username blank, then the password is admin.

Once you are in the setup page, go to the Wireless tab.

Take note of the wireless network name (SSID).

Then go to the Wireless Security tab. Take note of the wireless security settings and the network key (if wireless security is enabled).

On your laptop, in the lower right corner of your screen you will see an icon that looks like this moz-screenshot-1.jpgc147bd5.png.

Click the icon and you will see a list of available networks.

Select the SSID of your router then click connect.

If the wireless security is enabled, it will ask for the security key. Type the wireless network key, then click ok.

It will then connect wirelessly.

Good luck!

My netgear wgr614 is not working. I have no

To establish a wireless connection between the router and computer, the router’s wireless setting (SSID or Network Name, Channel, and Mode of communication) has to be configured. Please follow the steps below to configure the wireless settings on your NETGEAR router.
  1. Connect a computer to the LAN port of the router using an ethernet cable.
  2. Open up a browser and type in the following URL: http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 (depending on the model number of the router)
  3. Type the Username as admin, and Password as password. Then click OK.
    1. To change the Wireless settings, click Wireless Settings under Setup on the left menu bar.
  1. Under Wireless Network, (make a note of these settings, you need these values to configure your wireless clients)
2.
    • Change SSID from default NETGEAR to any desired name (for e.g. Home)
    • Select the Region as applicable - Incorrect selection may cause performance problems.
    • Select any one of the available Channel.
    • Apply the changes
Configuring Wireless Clients:
The steps explained below use the Windows XP wireless client. If your card came with
its own wireless configuration utility, you may use that as well.
  1. Open the Control Panel from the Start Menu.
  1. Right-click Wireless Network Connection and choose Properties.
  1. on the Wireless Networks tab and if unchecked, check the box for Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings.
Then click OK.
  1. Right-click on Wireless Network Connection, Select View Available Wireless Networks
  1. This will lists all the available wireless networks in range. Select your network from the list and click Connect.
If you are connecting to a secured wireless network, you will be prompted for a Network key. Type the Network key (if you are using WEP security, make sure you are typing the network key, not the Passphrase) and click Connect
  1. Your network list should now display your connection status. If you are connected and your router is setup for internet access, you are ready to connect to the Internet wirelessly.

Cannot get wireless connection through router

Hi MistiShay,

You did mention that it was working fine for several weeks suddenly your wireless computers stopped functioning and your getting a message that the security key in incorrect. This only means that its either your entering the wrong encryption key or someone changed the previous security key to something else. By the way what type of wireless security did you configured on the router initially was it WEP or WPA, if its WEP(64 or 128 bit) and your using a bulit-in wireless adapter on your laptop you need the default WEP key because the passphrase only works with a Netgear WLAN Utility.

Know if your having difficulties accessing the setup page of the router you may need to check on your browser settings, turn off the pop up blocker and firewall temporarily, also try another computer. Now if all fails you may need to press that reset button on your router and set it up again.

Add additional laptop on wireless router

i assume that you want to connect the new laptop wirelessly to the router. if so, all you need to do is connect the new laptop to the wireless signal of your your router.
follow the steps below if you don't know your router's wireless settings.

- access the router's setup page by typing http://192.168.1.1 (which is the default ip address of the routre), then you will be prompted with a log in screen. leave the username blank and type "admin" on the password filed
- you will now be prompted with a linksys screen. if you are using the latest firmware of the router, there would be a "wireless" tab, click on that tab and it'll show you the wireless settings (i.e. ssid, wireless channel etc) and under the "wireless" tab is a subtab that'll say "wireless security" and it'll provide you your wireless password if you have enabled one. but if you are using the old firmware, the wireless settings would be located on the middle part of the setup tab
- if you have all the wireless settings needed, you just need to connect your laptop using those settings. you just need to make sure that the wireless capability of your laptop is enabled

hope this'll help you but if you still encounters any problem just ask me and kindly provide the wireless adapter being used and the OS of your laptop.

ciao!

The numbers and/or characters below the bar code is the WEP code. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
