Question about Intel Motherboard

1 Answer

Motherboard crashed Hi, I have Gigabyte GA-K8S760M mother board and AMD 2800+ processor with 1GB+1GB PC2700 RAM. My motherboard crashed when I was trying to Flash the Bios. Can you suggest any alternative motherboard for this from any brand like Gigabyte or MSI that is available now ? Thanks, Regards, Tram

The main thing is to find out what type the processor socket is.
Then buy a board with the same socket, and that can take the same ram type. This is your board so any equivelent should be fine.

WHAT GB RAM SOPORT IN DIVES

Hello,

The Gigabyte mainboard you have uses DDR333, PC2700 RAM memory.
Your model GA-81845GVM-RZ has 2-slots and each slot can have up to a 1GB of memory, therefore you can have 2GB total RAM memory on this model mainboard.

I recommend mainstream, reliable pair of 1gb each memory modules such as Crucial.

Good Luck

Hi Could you please advise the type and size of

According to the manual, to max out the board's RAM you'd need to install 2 1GB sticks of DDR RAM. It can support DDR400/333/266. 2GB is it's maximum capacity.

I want to know that shall i put pentium 4/ 2.4 Ghz/ 533 Fsb/ Processor on this Gigabyte 845GVM-RZ board? will it support ?and i have 1 Gb ddr1 400 mhz ram will this work on this Board?

Yes for the Intel Pentium 4/2.4GHz/533FSB processor. (Socket 478)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Pentium_4_microprocessors#Northwood_.28130.C2.A0nm.29

(Scroll through. What sSpec number is on top of the processor's case? {You are following Anti-Static Precautions, correct? }

Won't support better than a Prescott Core Pentium 4. (Next chart down)

The Gigabyte GA-8I ((Supports 400MHz or 533MHz FSB)

NO to the Ram Memory.
The Gigabyte GA-8I845GVM-RZ supports DDR Sdram at 333Mhz. (PC2700)
IMHO it will not support DDR Sdram at 400MHz. (PC3200)

My reasoning is this;

Ram Memory typically operates at half of the FSB frequency rate of the Processor.

Processor FSB > MAXIMUM frequency rate is 533MegaHertz for the GA-8I845GVM-RZ
Ram memory at 333MHz is doable.
Not 400MHz.

No, you won't be able to overclock, and bring the FSB of the Processor high enough for PC3200 Ram Memory.
(The rest of the motherboard wouldn't work anyway if you did. PCI Express bus, PCI bus, etc., would not match)

Memory up-grade

you can go max 2GB (1GB each) DDR333 PC2700.
you have to reset the bus rate to match the RAM speed.

if you stay with DDR266 then you don't have to reset the bus rate

Gigabyte GA-81EXW memory chips

Any 184-pin ddr ram should work on this. You can actually use pc3200 (ddr 400) ram as well. Pc2700 ram is ddr333, and a higher speed ddr ram like pc3200 will work just as well if not better than pc2700, it will simply go down to the speed that the processor requests the ram run at. It's all backwards compatible, faster ram can run slower if the computer needs it to run at the slower speed. Depending on the price you can find as long as you get 184 pin ddr ram either pc2700 or pc3200 with work fine with your motherboard. Peter
