Most GSM handsets offer a choice to select a new network, automatically or manually. The default setting, in most cases, is automatic, which instructs your mobile to automatically connect to the strongest network signal available. As you move, the handset will continually monitor the available networks, and keep you connected to the strongest one. In a manual network selection setting, your mobile handset will detect if there is more than one network present and offer you a choice. If you then select one network, your mobile phone will remain connected to it regardless of the alternative networks available. You may prefer to remain connected to one network if it offers cheaper outgoing call charges. To manually select networks please refer to your mobile phone user manual for instructions. Your Jersey Telecom SIM card can store a list of your preferred roaming partners. If you have an automatic network selection setting, and there are two networks of equal strength available, the mobile phones will connect you to the one that is highest on your SIM card’s preferred list. The list can be edited by using the appropriate menu on your mobile phone. Check your mobile phone user manual for details.

My Kindle is not connecting Via 3G. It is 3G enabled.

The information provided below was tested on a Kindle 2, international version with Wi-Fi and 3G.

The Kindle automatically searches for the best connection signal in the area you're in. But for that, you first need to check if the wireless mode is turned on.

If you can see the signal strength bars next to the battery icon at the top, it is on. If close to the battery icon you only see another icon marked OFF, then you need to change that, as follows:

Press MENU,

Move the 5-way controller button up, till the selecting bar is under "Turn Wireless On" and press it once.

The Kindle will start to look for the providers in the area. The kind of connection it is connected to will be shown next to the battery icon and can be 3G, 2G, GPRS, EDGE and 1X. But to see this information, you need to press the MENU button, because it is not shown in the normal view.

That icon at the top indicates the connection that was established by your device.

Another way to check the connection you have is via the settings display, in an undocumented feature. Here, a note of caution: THIS IS A FEATURE NOT DOCUMENTED IN THE KINDLE MANUAL AND YOU WILL BE USING IT AT YOUR SOLELY DISCRETION. IF YOU SELECT A NETWORK THAT DOES NOT PROVIDE THE RIGHT SERVICE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONNECT YOUR DEVICE - YOU SHOULD BETTER LET THE AUTOMATIC SELECTION MODE ON.

If you still want to proceed, you need to press MENU, select Settings and, when the Settings screen is displayed, press type 311.

A warning note indicating that the connection will be lost momentarily and that you may not successfully reconnect to the Amazon Whispernet networks appears. Selecting OK in this panel will take you to the "Available Wireless Providers" screen and the Kindle will take a while to scan all the networks available in your area.

A list of the networks found will be displayed. You can move the cursor and select the one you want, pressing the 5-way controller button. But it is better to select the "Switch automatically" option and let the best option be selected by the Kindle.

I hope these tips can help you solve your problem. Good luck!

dear try this..hope u will be helped

1. Go to Settings > Connections > Connections > advanced tab >
On the top half, for select networks to automatically used, click "select networks"
For top half, for programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using "My Work Network , and then
continue by clicking "edit", go to proxy settings tab... just tick "this network connects to the internet" box only....
leaving the proxy server box unchecked, as well as advanced ( these would be set automatically ) and click ok on top..

This will return you to the network management settings,
On the bottom half, for program to that automatically connect to a private network should connect using ...
select "My Work Network" as well, then click "edit", go to proxy settings, and just tick same as above procedure....

Note: Besides the above steps to select networks, you can ignore the "dialing rules" and "exceptions" boxes alone...

2. Go to Settings > Connections > Wi-fi
Under configure wireless networks, you should be able to see the list of your wifi networks...
First, go to Network Adapters tab and then for my network card connects to.... select " The Internet" ( not Work )..
Secondly, go back to Wireless tab, scroll down to your house wifi...and click on Menu > Edit. select connect to the internet ( not Work),
click Next ....For Authentication box ,select "Open" and for data encryption box, select "disabled".
Other boxes can be left blank, and click "Next" and then "Finish".

i think your phone's network connection is in manual. You should Press Menu, and select Settings, Phone settings and Network selection. Select
Automatic and the phone automatically selects one of the cellular networks
available in your area.
