hi, I think this may help. what you need to do first of all is change the default player for DVD's from Toshiba Video Player to Windows Media Player, cant remember off hand how to do that but should be in manual, but try this. go to windows control panel, select 'Default Programs' and click on it, then select 1st option 'Set Your Default Programs' a list of all programs will come up, look for Windows Media Player and click on it, then choose one of the options on the right. The top one sets as default, the bottom one allows you to set file types to open with the program. this should work as it is telling your system to launch that program for DVD's etc, If you cant find your control panel, simply click Start and type it in the little box that appears just above it. hope this helps
The new recorder comes with security systems in it - when it encounters programs that have a "Do not Copy" signal on them it will refuse to work. This is how it's designed to work, there's nothing you can do to change that. BTW , even if you could do that it would have been illegal - recording a copy-protected program is considered by the lawyers of the channel in question as piracy .
The older one didn't do that because it didn't had the security system.
This means exactly that these are copy Once only, meaning you can not make it copy say 10 copies, at the same time, it means you must do one a at a time. If you wanted say 10 copies, you must do the entire process over and over.
An iso file is the format used for a cd/dvd. Example: If you create a digital copy of a cd/dvd, it will be in iso format if done correctly.
How it sounds to me, is that your girlfriend copied the cd wrong. Sounds like she created a iso image and just put it on the cd as a file, instead of making a true copy of the cd.
To work with iso images you need to install a program like "Alcohol 120" to create a "virtual drive". Load the ISO file into it and it pretends you are using a real cd-rom. Pretty self explanatory once you have the program installed, tad hard to explain.
sounds like you have purchased the wrong region coded dvd`s when you bought them from amazon? if you are in the US you can only play Region 1, Europe is Region 2 and so on. Unless you purchase a mlti region machine which is obviously not what you want to do then the only other play of playing the wrong region discs is to buy a cheap dvd player which has "DivX" compatability which will play any region for you.
your daughter has done nothing wrong, certain dvd,s have region codes for different countries.you can program the player with your remote, but you will need the hack number.i,m looking for it myself, so if you find it,pass it on!
