I lost the remote to the dvd player in my 2004 Nissan Quest. The local Nissan dealer wants $100 for a new one and I simply will not pay that much. Noone can tell me if a universal will work. Any suggestions as to where I can get a replacement?

I have a 2004 Armada and bought an RCA model RCU403 Universal Remote from Bi-mart for $5.99 that works just fine. I had to do a code search to get it set up. This remote also has code discovery mode that produced 0490 as the code for this DVD player. Its a lot cheaper than getting a factory remote!

I tried universal remote for my Jensen dvd flip down and only have some of the buttons working. Now I am search for another remote that might work for all that I need. Just try one and return it instead of going to the Dealer and spending alot more.

Try this site - they have the remote for $29.95...
Look at the left side of the page, search by brand - look for NISSAN.

It will not work unless you do some custom integration which will probably have to be completed by a custom stereo shop. I have done it several times but there is no way I'm going to remember the schematics right now

Put a childs dvd in asking for parental code?

There is a factory preset parental code you need to enter (unless that default code was changed). That factory code is in your user manual. In order the enter the codem, you will need the remote (number pad). The remote can be ordered through Soundstorm for $35.00 and you can download the manual from their knowledge base, just search "SDVD-100". Once you have both, just use the number pad on the remote to enter the factory parental code and the system will unlock.

We've got a DVD stuck in our DVD player in our Nissan Quest. The eject button won't work and the player is showing "No disk" on the display. The player is situated under the passenger seat facing the...

Page 4-62 of the Owners Manual for my 2006 Quest has this procedure for a stuck DVD:

1. Record the radio presets
2. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery for five minutes
3. Reconnect the negative battery terminal
4. Check to see if the jammed DVD has been ejected. If it has not, try to eject the DVD by pushing the eject button.
5. If the disc cannot be ejected see your Nissan dealer for further assistance
6. Re-program the radio presets

I have used this procedure on two occasions, and it works.

The Owners Manual also says that playing DVD-R and -RW disk might cause the player to player to malfunction.

Good Luck!

DVD player in 05 Nissan Quest will play a DVD then quit

Did it come back on later? Did you try a different DVD ? Cars are a harsh inviroment as cars get parked in the sun and left out in the cold and tend to change interior temps very quickly and condensation can build up rust and fogg up things. Did you try running a CD cleaner disk? Can you hear the disk turning as the DVD or cleaner disk is in there ? Do the function buttons light up? If its plum dead no sounds no ejeck it could have blown a fuse. If it seems to be going but not making a picture or auitio sound and the cleaner disk or other disk is no help the bulb may have gone out. In the dark with a clear disk CD or DVD doesnt matter in it you should see some light coming out where the disk goes. If not the bulb may have gone out Call the geek squad at curcuit city and tell them what you find and they'll tell you the troble your in cheapest.

I have a DVD player in my car (Manufacturer DVD player- Nissan Quest) it has an aux port can I use this to connect to a monitor?

That port is for input not output. Unless you may have both like some do. Those wires would be the rca jacks in the back of the unit. If the aux is on the front, that is to hook up ipod

Sound problems

Hey, easy fix that is usually over looked.
If the vehicle has a stock amp to power the stock system installed,
that the remote power amp wire (P-cont) {baby blue I think} is connected
to the harness.
