Go to the Creative website and download the manual for the Muvo 100 and follow the instructions for rebooting the player (Turn off the player, then hold down the on/off switch and scrollbar simultaneously until it turns on. You'll have two options -- cleanup and reboot. Select cleanup first, and then reboot.)

if the mp3 player doesn't turns on but does turn on when attached
to the USB follow these steps:

step1: use the "MP3 Player Recovery Tool" software (downloaded from creative official site)
while the mp3 is attache d to the USB port. the software will recognize your mp3 model
and will download the needed firmware and next it will install it to your mp3 and afterward your mp3 would be formatted (so it's better to have a back up of your music files on your mp3)

step2: make a new folder in your formatted mp3 (the name doesn't matter) and copy some music files you once have had on your mp3 in that folder

step3: safety remove your mp3 and the try turning it on, if it doesn't turn on don't give up
take out the battery and clean the heads of the battery and put it back in their place and
attempt to turn on your mp3 again.

note: if after step 3 your mp3 doesn't turn on go and start again from step 1 but this time test more and other music files and for example 4 or 5 music files.
by the way try other batteries to be sure that you don't have a power problem too.

How do I turn on my Discovery Kids MP3 player? The switch is in the on position, but nothing happens. The only time it will come on is when it is hooked to the computer via the USB cable.

make sure its in the on position and hold the green button down for a few seconds and it will start playing...not very practical to expect a 2 year old patiently hold the button until it starts playing but that should get it working

The mp3 player isn't starting

Try holding down the play/pause button while you hook the cable up. You may have to hold the play button up to 60 seconds before the screen lights up.

RCA pearl 1602-A won't register when plugged into USB port.

When my computer wouldn't recognize my Pearl, these are the steps I followed after downloading the firmware upgrade from

remove the battery,
start the program,
hold the play button while plugging into usb,
release the play button when the term "initializing" replaces "searching",
click the start button to replace the firmware.

You might want to try leaving the "format data" box unchecked the first time. If that doesn't work and allow you to backup your music, bite the bullet and format the data area.

After I did this, my pearl started normally, and my computer recognized it again. It also fixed my aac-error problem.

Muvo won't play

If you have the receipt of the mp3 player, register your product at you will need your model number-it can be found on the mp3 player itself.
but the reason your mp3 player is not playing music is becuase it is out of service life. the only thing it is useful for is storing all of your files and eveything on your computer. it is a flash drive now.
P.S. I know this because the same thing happened to me and I was told what happened.

No longer holds a bookmark

I've had my MuVo V100 for a year and can tell you it only saves the bookmark for the last file played. Hence, if you're into a long audiobook, don't switch to another. I've taken to making note of where I am because if the battery dies while playing it will also go back to the last saved bookmark.

TIP: if you accidentally switch away from a book you're listening to, pull the battery BEFORE turning it off -- it will revert to your last bookmark.

Try holding down the button for several seconds? If you just hit it for a second, it says "Please wait", but then the "please wait" message will go away, and the song will be paused. After the song is paused for a long time, it will eventually think you forgot about it and turn off to save battery life. Just keep holding the button until it actually turns off. I think it takes 3 seconds of holding the button down.

Try upgrading to the latest firmware which is here Then, press and hold the Play button while connecting your player to the USB port of your PC. This is connecting your V200 in what is called Recovery Mode. Keep pressing the Play button until the New Hardware Wizard starts. Complete the wizard. If it doesn't work, let me know. Later.
