Question about Samsung HT-Q70T System

1 Answer

HT-Q70T Static - Touch volume knob and now main system display panel doesn't light up and unit doesn't turn on at all. Will not even let the CD's in there be removed. Is there a way to re-set? Looks like a serious problem. Thank You Steve

Ron, Unpluged for 24 hours. Pluged the unit back in and Stand By Button Light comes back on, but that is all. No change. Held down the power buttom for five seconds that was recommended in the factory manuel, that didn't work either.

Volume turns down by itself until it says VOLMIN

I have a Samsung home theater system model HT-D6730W. I have had some issues with the volume turning itself down till it says volmin. I've seen that I'm not the only one with this issue!!!! I have tried all the suggestions that were posted. Doing a hard reset, changing settings, I bought a cooling pad for laptops Hopi g those would fix it. I called Samsung support Which was a joke!!! I took the putter cover off and cleaned all the dust from the unit, removed batteries from remote, removed all cable connection on the back of the unit other than the HDMI cable going to the tv. Having done all that the unit was still turning its self down. I'm a bit of a tinker and so while the cover was off of the unit, displaying all the delicate stuff inside, I turned on the home theater system and played a movie set the volume to a good listening sound. When it started to turn it self down I remove the wide wire ribbon from the main circuit board going to the touch panel on the front of the unit. Voila!!! Sound quit going down!!!! I unplugged unit and removed front touch panel and cleaned all dust from the inside of it. Put it all back together. Tested. Still doing it. Removed the touch panel again and this time I disconnected the small wire ribbon for the volume touch buttons. Reassembled and tested. NO MORE ISSUES!!! Everything on the front still works other than the volume buttons. You can still change the volume using the remote!!!! I hope this finds everybody that is having this issue with there unit.

Only the subwoofer, front right, and front left speakers work. Is there a setting that I can adjust to turn the other 3 speakers on? Only 3 of the 6 speakers show up on the display.

When you do a speaker test it should show all speakers, if not then im not sure, but to hear sound from all speakers try pressing mode on remote and change setting to Matrix. Hope this helps.

Loud Pop,Crackling, Dead Unit

What it might (definitely) be is a big repair bill. Alot of mfg's don't put fuses on the amp sections. They use relays.
It's probably a transistor or power amp module that fried.
What initially may have happened is that: You got a power spike and it weakened the internals. Happens to PC power supplies quite a bit.

The display shows all the icons of the sytem and wont clear...

$38 part from Sears PartsDirect took about 30 mins to install.  Part # AH92-02673A Ay pcb-front.  There are actually 2 boards to this setup, I went ahead and replaced both but the power button side of the board has some wiring that requires you to remove the disc changer which is only 4 screws and 2 screws for the piece that holds the disc above the reader.
I couldn't find an easy way to get the knob off on the front it required me to force it, nothing borke but your replacing the board anyways..

Power on and Get the Display panel lights up like christmas

That is an internal fault, with it's power supply. They shutdown if an in-balance is detected. Also check the speaker wire connection - will do the same thing if disconnected or shorted.

Display and sound

I had the same problem. My piece died after the 12 month warranty. But, there was an additional 3-Month Warranty Extension if you Registered the piece On-Line. I had done that. The Samsung Service Center said they did not have access to be able confirm that I had registered it. I had the date registered but that didn't matter to them. They just wanted me to forward the Proof of Purchase info to them(which I Scanned & E-mailed). Once they confirmed this. I shipped them the Main Unit Only(not the Speakers), they repaired it, & returned it. The parts they replaced on my piece were: AH92-02494A(Display Malfunction), AH44-00112A(Dead Intermittently), AH64-03942B(Appearance Item Defect), & AH31-00039B(Mech. Noise or Vibration). It's been about 1 year since repair & so far works well.
When this piece failed I also smelled an electrical burning smell. It was very soon after I had touched the On/Off Button.
I BELIEVE THIS UNIT MUST BE GROUNDED, IT MAY BE VERY SUSCEPTIBLE TO STATIC DISCHARGE AND GENERATES IT'S OWN STATIC FIELD AND DOESN'T NEED MUCH TO COMPLETE A CIRCUIT. GROUND IT(and yourself) AND ONLY USE A REMOTE CONTROL TO OPERATE THE UNIT. BE CAREFUL WHEN INSTALLING MEDIA TO ENJOY. HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE. Can't say I won't use Samsung again because it's all garbage in, garbage out in this disposable society we've allowed ourselves to be a part of.
