Try doing a factory reset on the modem/router, also do a connection test on your PS3 and make sure that your NAT TYPE is 2 anything other than that will give you problems playing online. Let me know if you need help with getting your PS3 to a NAT TYPE 2.

your thumb drive dosnt have suficant power to keep the ps3 online. i suggest getting a land line if you wanting to play online. thumb drives just arent sufficant enougant to give out that much internet to a ps3. even witha router
Can you provide more information? The Verizon Wireless broadband access is for your laptop only. In order for the PS3 to take advantage of it, you'll have to setup Internet Connection Sharing on your laptop. That way your PS3 can connect to your laptop via your laptop's wireless connection (in Ad Hoc mode since you don't have a wifi network) and access the internet via the VzW Broadband Access.
you can hook up the ps3 directly to a router or a modem but there is no need to have it hooked up to an actual computer or laptop. you have to have an internet connection with a router/modem to at least HAVE the ABILITY to get online play.
