Question about Samsung DLP HL-P4663W 46" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
We had the same problem -- it looked like we were looking through a 1" strip along the left side through very dark gray glass.
Replacing the light engine solved the problem. The technician said it was caused by a felt-like lining inside the light engine whose adhesive was coming loose and the material was blocking part of the picture.
This was handled under our extended warranty with Magnolia (Best Buy). We don't normally believe in extended warranties, but since the DLP is new technology, decided to get one in this case. Good decision.

I have read about this issue many times,
it is the mirror inside the light tube that is coming unglued , you have to take it apart and reglue the mirror in place.
I think if you remove the lamp you can see the mirror down the tube.
use some high temp silicone to reglue it.
