I had a similar problem and the this solution it was not enough to fix the problem. Go in the maintenance menu : keep pressed Menu and Disp then Power on button. Go to Rom Update item and then System Initial. This will restart your camera and erase the firmware. Then reload the firmware putting the file QV-R40.bin in the memory card and Power on the camera with the menu button pressed first. I had the same problem but managed to track down the firmware file qvr40.bin , copied it onto the mmc then updated on camera. All seems well now, so hopefully fixed the problem

This may not do anything, and you may have already thought of this, but here goes...

1. Take out the SD card if you have one in the camera.

2. Remove the batteries and leave them out for 24 hours. Put in GOOD batteries and DO NOT PUT THE SD CARD BACK IN THE CAMERA.

3. Power up the camera. See what happens.
If you face the same problem then you have to reinstall the fireware from service center. Thanks.

How to solve the message oeo1

I had this same problem years ago, couln't fix it in any way. Tried the description on http://www.oborona.net/stuff/qv-r40/eng/index.html (reloading firmware) but even that did't work. Found my old qv-r40 today, and gave it one more try using the above mentioned solution of updating the firmware. Even though I only did again the same as a few years back (updating the camera with the same firmware), this time it worked. Got my old camera working again!
So I suggest you try the solution by oborona.net, and if it doesn't work get the batteries out and wait for a few days before trying to update the firmware again. You might be lucky like me.

Casio qv-40 card error

Is slide switch on the side of the card unlocked? Did you format the card in the camera before trying to use it?

That's why whoever sold it to you, it's broken. Digicams are cheap enough nowadays to purchase new along with cheap large storage memory cards which comes bundled during sales.

System Error oeo1 on Casio Digital Camera QV-R40

Go to the following website:

http://www.oborona.net/stuff/qv-r40/eng/index.html

unfortunately it does not translate very well from its native Russian, but a potted version of what you need to do is as follows:
1. Download the Casio QV-R40 firmware to a safe place on your PC, unzip it, and put a copy of the unzipped binary file onto a blank or spare SD card.
2. Insert the SD card in the camera, and then hold the Menu button pressed in while pressing the On/Off button.
3. A menu will appear on the screen saying Program Update, Yes/No
4. Select Yes and press the SET button.
5. After a short while you should get a message to say the update is complete. Switch off the camera and remove the SD card, and put in another SD card.
6. Switch on the camera, and hopefully it will restart as new. You will need to enter time-zone, date, time etc.
It has worked for me!

"System error" always needs to be sent into repairs. Give them a call and see what they can do for you. 800-706-2534 and then keep choosing option 1.
