Proview HV205 (silver)model 2020 20" LCD TV problem: TV does not turn on with remote, only with rear switch. When it's on, it's only a blue screen and does not respond to remote or the swithches on the monitor. I have it hooked up to my DISH and was excellent. TV worked well for 1 year, then the picture began to get really fuzzy, then eventually went to blue screen.

    1. My two-year-old HV205 requires constant switching on and off on its rear switch before it will get rid of the blue screen and cough up a picture. It generally requires a half hour warmup on blue screen before it will deliver anything. The cable TV picture it is now producing is fuzzy, flickers and full of little black and white lines. It plays far better when I use my cheapie $27 DVD player to watch a home-burned movie -- provided I can wait the maddening half hour to warm up this turkey.

I am having the very same issues with my television. We purchased it in 2005 and had no issues until this month. I would like to resolve the problem before I have to purchase another tv.

I am having the same issues with my tv. We purchased it in 2008 and it worked fine until this month. It finally went out last night. Leading up until then, the tv would only work if we switched it on from the back. We would sometimes get multicolored vertical lines for a few seconds and then the picture would come up. As for now, nothing but blue screen.

Same thing and the buttons only work for a few seconds to change the channel then it just stays there until I use the power switch to flip it off.

Ive had this tv/monitor for years just sitting there collecting dust. a buddy gave it to me to see if i could fix it because he couldn't. well gotta open it up and look on one of the main boards and look for blown capacitors. look for the ones with round tops. they should flat not rounded/bulging. replace those and then your monitor/tv should work again.

Proview HV205 (silver)model 2020 20" LCD

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. In some cases, the remote control might need to clean.

We have lost our remote and want to buy a new one. All the universal remotes we see do not list Proview

The universal remotes are never that great anyway. Even if you find a universal remote for the TV, 90% of the time you can't control the menu options and other settings. It's best to have the remote made for the TV.

I know a few good web sites for remotes at a good price.

I am having the same problem. If I play with the power button on the back it will come on sometimes. I was looking for a solution here but looks like I will have to take it apart and check for loose solder joints.
