Question about Panasonic PT-53WX42 53" Rear Projection Television

NO PICTURE AFTER TURNON

POWER ON SET APPROX 2 SECONDS POWERS OFF. HAS 3 BLINKS. COULD YOU ADVISE AS TO POSSIBLE PROBLEM? A SERVICE/REPAIR MANUAL WOULD ALSO BE OF HELP.

    I have the exact same problem. It appears that convergence is the issue here. Do I need to change 2 convergence IC chips. Is that correct?

We are neophytes, not experts; were able to find a manual for the PT47. It says this is an autodiagnosis feature; LED will flash when SOS is detectedby the circuits located in specific areas. Number of times the LED flashes tells you what circuit should be checked. NUMBER OF FLASHES POSSIBLE CIRCUIT

No picture comes up but tv powers up and the stand-by light blinks for about 3 to5 seconds, i also hear sound when i turn it on and change channels


If in shutdown the power light should continue to blink a specific number of blinks which is a error code.

This set is prone to bad picture tubes (has 3) so depending on code may be a fatal issue----sets will before flash bright red, green, or blue when this happens and shut off.

To determine what your problem is:

UNPLUG TV ANDTHEN PLUG BACK IN---TURNON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT ANDGOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD "device" and "menu"buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.


Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem


******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protectthe Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergenceIC and shut down.


SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES ANDTHEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOUHAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.


IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

Mitsubisi wt-46809 will not turn on. i plug it in and it blinks 3 times then nothing. no error code when i hold menu and input


keep in mind if you unplug set it clears the error buffer.

Try to turn set on and if power light comes on and goes off then do the self check; menu and input for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons.

The Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in the TV. The self-diagnostic function of the TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue.

Few examples are given below; some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service.
1 blink / 2 blinks / 5 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your set.

I have a sony trinitron wega 32HS20 when i power it up the standby/timer light blinks 11 times then the picture appears sometimes it will stay on all day and sometimes just a few minutes then it powers off...

Mitsubishi WS-55909 dm board repair


The DM is fine if the led isnt blinking. Your set is going into protective shutdown. Try pressing the menu and the device/input buttons on the set both in together for 5 seconds to see if the set will blink a series of blinks pause then blink another series of blinks. Such as 2 blinks pause then 2 blinks, Then let me know what the blinks were and I will assist you with whats wrong

Shutdown at Power Causes: Cause #1 This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SELF- DIAGNOSIS INDICATE X-RAY. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC5A03 PART # 270P704010 AND AN OPEN R5A73 82K ¼ WATT OFF PIN 2 OF IC5A02 ON THE MAIN PCB. 2. SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT. 3. SELF-DIAGNOSIS INDICATES SHORT PROTECT.
