There are two cases....
1. Either you are using a video converter that doesn't Convert videos to SMV format.
2. Your video format is not the one that matches with the conversion software.

Solution: For the first case, if you aren't using the philips media converter, then i would recommend you to use the converter to convert video files in a format which the player can read.

For the second case, always try to convert the video files to WMV fromat, so that there is better quality of the output, as philips media converter specializes in conversion from WMV format. I hope this solves your problem.

How to transfer 1080P MKV HD movies to Google Nexus S for playback?

For the last few days we've been using the Google Nexus S, manufactured by Samsung, with the new Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" operating system. This is a phone that was designed with direct input from the Google Android team. And like its predecessor, the Nexus One, which was released in January 2010, it has a "clean" install of Android. That means there is no additional software layer from third party OEMs or carriers to interfere with the user experience. Like the Nexus One, this will become the reference phone for this generation of Android.

The media experience on the Android 2.3 platform is unfortunately not that good natively - incompatibility with many file types and basic operation mar the experience. For movies, Video Player is the one we reach for instantly whenever we pick up an Android phone. The powerful player has a high level of file compatibility, multiple bookmark options and even a slider for brightness management.

Detailed specs:

Video:
HD(720p@30fps) video playing, Video recording D1 (720x480)@30fps, mpeg4, H.264, H.263

Audio:
MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR, AMR-NB

MKV is the most popular HD movie format for playback now. And the 1080P Blu-ray movies downloaded from internet are also in mkv format. So we need to find a way to convert 1080P MKV movies to Nexus S supported video formats for playback on it.

Then, how to convert 1080P MKV movies for Google Nexus S?

Free download: MKV to Nexus S Converter which is a great video converter to convert mkv to other video formats without quality.

Step 1. Add MKV file
Click "Add " botton to add MKV movie file from your computer.

Step 2. Set output format for Nexus S
Click the drop-download list of "Format" to choose output format, and then follow "HD Video"> "MPEG-4 HD Video (*.mp4)".

Step 3: Adjust video and audio parameters
To get 720P quality Mp4 for Nexus S, you are allowed to click "Settings" button to optimized the output file quality by adjusting video and audio parameters. The codec, aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate, and audio channel are all adjustable in the following interface.

Step 4. Start to convert MKV to Nexus S
When the above mentioned steps are done, you can click "Convert" button to start converting MKV to mp4 for Nexus S. Once the conversion is completed, you can mount your Nexus S onto your computer via USB, then copy the generated Mp4 file from PC to your Nexus S.

For Mac users: MKV to Nexus S Converter for Mac

When I download videos, I get a message that reads"wrong file format". How do I fix this?

Some MP3 players will only display video files with these extensions avi, and wmv.
Check your player's specification for the video file formats that ir uses.
If you dowloaded an incompatible video file, there are video converter programs on the Internet that convert video files to a video format that suits your player.

8 mm video transfer

Dear FixYa-People,

yes, I (alone !) already solved this problem !!! Here the way:

I used not the Media converter software, but Showbiz DVD 2, a software by Arcsoft in the bundle of MSI MiniVox USB as software too. There is a button "Work on, make a Video" and then "Transfer video from wich device" and so on ...
The Converter Software is really only for convert file formats and not for convert videos between devices. What a misunderstanding ... ! (The "Error"-Message reffered on the Mediaplayer after the convert ...)

Best greetings
