Lens damaged camera dropped camera body damaged pentax k1000

The camera fell from a shelf, while the lens was out. It'll cost a lot to repair it, it would be great if someone could give me some tips on fixing it, but if going to a repair shop is unavoidable, then I'll go. The lens is now damaged, the camera itself can't shut off and cannot take pictures.  ...HELP!

"To get the lens to retract, we tried to do a slight twist over to the left (looking at the camera like your the subject - camera lens is facing you). Sure enough it went back in! But now it has trouble focusing. That's another question now. Darn thing...we'll see what else we can jimmy :-)"

I recently dropped my Pentax K1000....oops! The only damage I noticed was a small dent in the metal side of the lens....hardly even noticeable. But now, the focus isn't working, and the light meter doesn't...

Unfortunately, this is a serious problem.

If the focus ring is not working then there is serious damage inside the lens. This cannot be repaired easily and must be taken in for repair.

As for the light meter, this is slightly more worrying as it is damage inside the body. It could be something as simple as the battery contact. But it could also be somehting more serious.

I would recommend taking it for repair.

If repair turns out to be too expensive I suggest you have a look on ebay. Pentax cameras are available with a wide range of prices and so are compatible lenses. A good upgrade would be a Pentax MX or even an LX if you can afford it. The ME super is also an excellent model if you want soemthing simpler.

Pentex k1000 rewind knob unscrewed, shaft fell inside camera

first make a small hook on the end of a straightened paper clip. insert the hook and pull up rotating the hook as you pull up. being careful not to bend the spring near the hole. once the back door is opened check the rewind shaft, there should be a beveled edge on the collar of the shaft. rotate the shaft while pushing up. if no beveled edge on the shaft use the paper clip to push the spring out of the way while inserting the shaft. if it still will not return file a bevel on the collar of the shaft. I am assuming there is no film in the camera as the canister will prevent the shaft from falling in.

Pentax K1000 35mm SLR Camera Lens will not turn or focus= stuck

Impact damage??? remove the lens and check the barrel for straightness. also the rear lens element must be perfectly straight. some of the latest lenses have a plastic helical gear that can be tapped out with a light hammer and a piece of wood ( 1in X 4in. ) used on the high end of the rear lens, if impacted.

Pentax k1000 ....lens will not focus...(one 50mm...other 70-210mm)...happened once before...brought to camera store and of course it focused...nothing wrong...took some pics and worked ok...now not...

Try this first.

Set your lens focus to infinity and focus your screen at a far away object (like a distant lampost). If it,s not in focus, then you have a misaligned mirror. Adjust your mirror so that a infinity setting, the split-screen image merge well to form a well focussed image. Hope that helps.

are you sure the camera is a Pentax K1000.
the K1000 is a manual 35mm film camera, the only electronics in it are for the light meter. plus a circuit for the flash connections.

Can't get my lense off!

You can use any mm lens you want as long as it was made to fit the K1000.
Is the lens a Pentax lens ?
Push the lens release button down and turn lens Clock-wise then while holding release button down quickly turn lens counter clock-wise, it should come right off.
If it did not then it must be disassembled to remove the lens.

Fresnal lense

What kind of camera? Some camera's have removable fresnel lens held on by a spring loaded frame. Other camera's must be disassembled to replace the lens. There is no way to repair a damaged fresnel lens.
Pentax K1000 must be disassembled.
