Kpmohs,

The projection tv is dead. If there is only 5 volts coming out, you need to get the whole thing replaced. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Please let me know if this helps. Good luck!

Amber light on means standby voltage is high. IF amber light does not go white when power button is pushed the its one of two things.
A. No power on command from main board. Usually labeled PS-On. Should go high from 3.3v or maybe 5volts. If not present Main is defective.

B. If the ps-on line is going high then your problem is a defective power supply.

D-link router (with 1 antenna and no modem) that has no power and no LEDs lit. the outlet still works to charge a cellphone. how do we fix the router?

Possibly the powersupply for the router is dead. Find another powersupply with same voltage output to try OR test the output tip with a meter. If the power supply does work then your router is dead. Replace it. If there is no power (5 volts or 12 volts etc) coming from the tip of the power supply adaptor then replace the adaptor / power supply.

The lights do not come on when plugged in

If you have a volt meater check the power supply to see if it is sending the correct power. If you get a rating more that 5 volts above or below the rated voltage you have a busted power supply. If it is above 5 volts the router is most likely dead.

If you don't have one try to locate another 12v (or whatever its voltage is) power supply.

My Behringer XENYX 2442FX Mixer does not power up, the only light that comes on is the phantom power light. I opened it up and noticed that the switching power supply has multiple voltage outputs. We...

You should find +/-15 volts and +5 volts as well as the phantom power... but that light can come on at much lower than desired voltage.

Note that the regulators are current limited so a short on the mixer board can kill one of the voltages.... but you are not getting any input from teh switching portion of the regulator so the switching part of the supply is apparently dead. To replace the supply you would have to call Behringer at 1-425-672-0816 to get the part number and an incident number and then call FullCompass which is their part distributor now.

When working on a switching power supply, use an isolation transformer for safety and use a 60 watt lamp in series with the power cord to limit current during testing.

The circuitry will be SIMILAR to the power supply found on page 9 of schematic you can download at:

Power to computer fans and processer running optical drive has unsure about hard drive . No power to back panel plugs ie usb, dvi vga audio video. As well as none to front panel card reader usb........

The +5 volt output of your power supply is dead. To confirm this, take one of the molex connectors off and measure it with a voltmeter. The red wire to ground (the black wire next to it) should read +12 volts. The yellow wire to ground (the other black wire next to it) should read +5 volts. If both of these voltages look ok, the +5 volt line could still have a problem. The easiest way to figure that out is to swap the power supply out with a known, good one. But it sure sounds like the +5 line is out.

Busted component

Getting a schematic is rather doubtful. You might be able to get a general idea of the circuit from somewhere on the 'net.

Was the power supply dead?

ATX style power supplies have both a standby and main section. The standby supplies a low current +5 volts to a small portion of the motherboard.

If the component failure is in this section, this standby voltage will be missing or incorrect, and the computer will be dead- won't power on at all.

I've seen a number of catastrophic failures in this standby circuit, and repair isn't suggested or economically feasible, especially as some parts often poof beyond identification.

When the pwr button is pushed, the main section comes on, and supplies +5 (Red wires), +12 (Yellow wires), +3.3 (Orange wires), -5, -12. Look here for this info http://pinouts.ru/Power/atx_v2_pinout.shtml

Voltages are precisely regulated, and any substantial deviation (more than a few 10ths of a volt) indicate a problem, especially on the +5 & +3.3 lines.

Power supply

Is this by chance a computer power supply? Does the computer come on when the power button is pushed? If so, then the fan itself is bad- bearings are stuck/lubricant dried up etc. Replacement fans are readily available at low cost.

if the power supply is dead, then likely an internal component has failed. If you have some tech savvy, a voltmeter, soldering/desoldering items & skill, you may be able to repair the supply. A very common failure is one or more electrolytic capacitors, and these may show visible signs of failure- bulged out end, and/or leakage.

ATX style power supplies, used in most machines of the past 8-10 years have both a standby and main section. The standby supplies a low current +5 volts to a small portion of the motherboard.

Anyway, you could make these checks. Replacement electrolytics- use the Panasonic FC series (designed for switching power supplies) available from Digi-key electronics, or equivalents (Mouser electronics another possible supplier).
