Convergence was bad. Before kit was used no audio or video

It says Zenith here and if different let me know----if the convergence failed and took a resistor or fuse device (not a glass fuse) out the set will be dead--set detects no voltage to that area and shuts down for protection.

Is there a way to hook up a HDMI connector to my WS-48413

Yes, there are several ways to hook up your HDMI to your TV but first, we need to understand that HDMI carries both audio and video signals though a single cable in digital form.

I am assuming you want to connect a device such as a digital cable box, Blu Ray or HD DVD player with an HDMI output to your TV. Since your TV has both digital (DVI) and analog (S-Video, component, etc) inputs, my suggestion would be to get and HDMI to DVI adapter (about $20 at buy.com) for your video and for your audio, use any RCA audio cable (I use the one from the Dollar Store). This would give you the best video resolution from your source device.

My next suggested solution would be to get an HDMI to component video + audio cable (< $10 at eBay for a 6' length) for a single-cable fix. Again component video carries analog signals so the DVI could be a better viewing experience but because the cost of the cables are minimal, I would try both solutions to see which fix would give you the better picture.

Note that since the audio is being run though RCA connectors in both instances, the digital Dolby, 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound tracks in high definition sources will not be reproduced if you connect your TV's audio-out to your audio receiver. To get the best audio, I would connect the HDMI device's digital out (optical, coaxial, etc) directly to the receiver.

Hope that helps. Have fun!

Picture Shrinks and Expands

If you have any of the following problems you may want to check the site www.TvRepairKits.com for a repair kit. Most of the issue below are fairly common with the older Magnavox projection sets.
Symptom: Screen shrinks and expands - may or may not correct itself after the TV warms up. After a few days, weeks, or months of having the shrinking/expanding problem you may loose all audio/video but the power light will remain lit!

Symptom: No Audio or Video but power light is on

Symptom: Audio works but no Video. Power light still work

Symptom: No Video. Audio is intermittent. Power light still works

How do you get to s-video on a durabrand tv, av button just goes from tv, to aux one (rca in back) to aux two (rca in front) then back to tv again?

Check to make sure that your series of set has an S-Video connector on the input panel (usualy located on the rear side of the set).

In most TV sets, the S-Video is shared with video input 1, and or 2.

For example, if the S-Video connector is located at position 1, then make sure that there are no other connectors in the video connector for the base-band video feed. The audio connectors will be okay, because S-Video does not carry the audio.

When using S-Video, the L and R audio, and the S-Connector video input will be used on the respective video input.
