Your problem is caused by bad t-con board. You may look online for the replacement like ebay.com and shopjimmy.com.

U still have Closed Captioning functions are on.Check ur remote control for a button that said CC.Used that button pushes couples times for all CC1,2,3 to off.Should have no more black squares showing up the tv screen again.
Using a universal remote for your television, you have to get the correct code to pair up the remote with your television before the remote can start working with your television.
Most of the time you only get wrong codes.
I strongly advice you contact sansui customer care and explain the situation to them, they will further tell you either how you can get your universal remote to work or get you a remote that will work for it.
You can get a sansui HDLCD3210 remote froman electronic shop, i bet that will work for it.
Mine is kinda tempermental also. When it won't come on or turn off with the remote ,or gets a double image on the screen,I have to unplug for a couple of minutes and then it starts to work. Don't know why.?

It sounds like the button is stuck. Take the remote apart if you can and see if the key is stuck somewhere. This happened to me once with a rubber key type of remote. It drove me crazy.
I succeeded is using the DirectTV remote control for the Emerson 42" plasma TV, by using a Samsung code. On my TV, was 10060. If this one does not work, there are a bunch of others that might work. Good luck
