Try slipping the shield ahead a bit to give yourself a little more "stick out" on the wire. If you tend to drag your shield along the work as you go, that extra clearance means a lot. Never that keen about those Miller guns, much prefer other other types that have that feature built in to them.

Miller welder

Unfortunately, since this machine is CV (constant voltage) it is strictly for Mig or Flux-cored welding. Anything that is stick welded can be welded with Mig. All you need is a compatible Mig welder.

My welder won't feed wire it sounds like it's trying to energize but can't. A couple of times it fed through but wouldn't feed to weld so I had stick weld. What happens if the liner has a restriction?

first unscrew the tiny tip at very end of torch (can be hot)!! then try to feed wire thru handle, gently shake cable as you do helps to feed wire thru cable , if successful you have allowed the amps to get too high for the feed rate (slow) and melted the tip closed , these tips are replaceable from miller and are not expensive

Wire wont feed on my welder

I would call miller and get a number for the closest repair station. They have a three year parts and labor warranty. 1-920-735-4505

Why does gassless mig wire splatter

Hi there, Sounds like the stick out is to long (wire length from puddle to tip of gun.You can vary the voltage by raising the tip.Without seeing you welding it's hard to say.If your wire speed is to fast(controls the amps) or the angle isn't right you will see golf balls which means your running to hot.One other thing the flux can draw moister and cause problems.Check out this link for further help.Tip:old fridge will keep out the moister or a dead microwave.L(8^) Thank You for choosing FixYa.com the few vids I watched were gas mig,but pay attention to the sparks, flux wire will tend to spatter more but if everything is set right it will brush right off.Fastnall(nuts, washers bolts) has 2# rolls of wire for the same price as Lowes 1# rolls.Enjoy the vids and thanks for choosing FixYa.com

Hi:

If everything works but there is no arc; you should check your ground clamp, make sure it is not loose or dirty including terminals and replace your gun's contact tip.
Believe it or not this is a simple one.

MIG wire is always hot without pulling trigger

Check your manual, there are a lot of mig units on the market that are alway "Live" alternatively, the relay has either shorted or you have wirering problem on the switch.
