Fujifilm Finepix S700 unable to upload pics off camera and onto PC

Hello there. I am unable to get pics from my camera onto my WIN XP PC.
I installed the software and rebooted. When I plug usb cable into camera and than into PC, turn camera on...a white screen comes up on the camera with USB written in the top left corner. The FinePix program came up, but empty , there are no pics shown for me to upload.
I have plugged other devices into the computers USB port to make sure the port is working correctly, I have also tried other USB ports and have no luck. I have taken over one hundred pictures on this 1gb XD Olympus memory card and am now trying to upload them onto my PC.
I have also tried uninstalling the software and just letting Windows recognize it and installing its own drivers etc. There also with no luck.

Any advice given is much appreciated.

Thank you,
Ray

I can see some confusion over here

First thing to do is trying to change your driver signing settings to ignore, or warn without stopping the install. This will bring up a box with an option to 'continue anyway' when it tells you that the driver is not signed by microsoft.

  1. Got to run box in start menu
  2. Type regedit in run box
  3. Save a backup of your registry using regedit/file/ export option, just in case.
  4. Change the value: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Driver Signing , put valuedata to 0 that means ignore

Here are detailed instuctions with picture on how to do this operation.
Restart the PC, if you put the right value in the right registry Windows with not bother you anymore.
Be careful with regedit , it can damge the system if used improperly.
Here ais an alternative way to do same thing, using policy editor instead of regedit I suggest using first method because is simpler.

If you have additional compatibility problems of other kinds (the above solution should get rid of Window block), you can upgrade your camera, the link is below.

Follow this link here, download transfer software, and download firmware upgrade 1.02 (latest release).
You do not need to do the upgrade if your only problem is the windows logo.

Additionally here is pdf user manual for your camera : FX_S5700_S700_E_OwnersManual.pdf

The above will fix your problem, if you do it properly.
Do not forget to accept good solutions ant the end of this.

Best regards

Hi 1theking ,

If I may offer an alternative to djnick999's solution(s)...

If all else fails, why not try a memory card reader. Remove the memory from the camera, slip it into the reader, attach the reader's USB plug to the PC and PC will read it as one of the many external storage of the reader.

Hope this be of additional help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Try to use a memory card reader, instead using your cam as an uploader.

If you are using Windows XP the Z10 should be a plug and play without using the Fuji software. If you need a link to the software, this ought to do it. http://www.fujifilm.ca/x13918.xml

My computer doesn't detect my finepix s602zoom

I have not had this problem, but I always use a card reader to upload my photos.
It saves on wear and tear on the small usb socket on the side of the camera. I can't see any reason to use a cable if all I need is to upload photos.

Can't get my computer (win xp) to detect my finepix camera

Sounds like there is no connection between your camera and your pc.
Try another USB port on your PC.
You actually do not require a driver for XP.
XP will automatically detect the camera. SP2 + 3
If all fails, get a card reader.

you don't need a cd or software to upload the pics to your computer you just need a sd card reader to connect your card to the pc and from there you can move the pic from your card to your computer. A card reader is actually quite cheap.

Cannot upload pics from camera to PC

Hi Ray;
Try uninstalling the Fuji software completely, through the Windows control panel. Don't use the supplied software at all. Make sure the camera is unplugged from the computer. Open "my computer" and note which drives are present. Now plug in the camera (still turned off) to the USB port. Turn the camera power switch on. Wait and see if a new drive icon shows up. It may take a minute or so. If you get a new icon (probably Fuji DSC or similar), you should be able to open the new drive and access the images through the various folders. If not, can you see images on the camera screen (when not connected to computer)? If yes, maybe a bad cable. If no, could be corrupted images on card.

Well..thanks for help. I got absolutely no help from Fuji customer support. I ended up taking the camera back and getting a different kind. Got a Sony Cyber-Shot and I love it!
