I have a problem with compaq 6720s and XP that i cannot detect the internet by wireless but i used to detect it with VISTA without any problem. Also i can not let XP search for the best driver to my laptop do u know any idea?
Right click on My Computer and go to device properties and see if the wireless card is listed in the devices.
If not you will have to install the drivers for the wireless network device. You can find them at there website.

The hard disk is not detected because this model notebook has a SATA hard drive installed and the XP
installation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on a
disk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then,
XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP.The FIX. Go
into the BIOS and disable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make
XP think it is a IDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally.
When Windows has been installed then install all the device drivers (including
the SATA driver), then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable
the SATA drive.
PXE is the boot option from a bootable network card, so basically the BIOS isn't seeing any of your bootable drives and going trying to PXE-boot off your network. Check the boot options in your BIOS and make sure your drives are detected by the BIOS. If they are not listed, then the drive has likely gone bad.

Try downloading the latest audio driver from the Compaq WEB site. You need to download the audio drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Use this link to download the drivers: - www.compaq.com/country/cpq_support.html
use a vertualization software "vmware workstation" and you would be able to work on xp without installing it physically. this software is used to run several operating systems at one time.
