As instructed i master reset my wireless router, due to the fact that i forgot my password. My internet connection wont work at all, now that i have "master reset" my linksys Wrt100 router.

When you do a Master Reset on a wireless router it sets the hardware back to factory settings.

To get this working again you will need to run the setup wizard CD to reconfigure the device.

You can find all the setup programs and documentation on how to configure at the following location:

http://www.linksysbycisco.com/APAC/en/support/WRT110/download

Good luck.

How do the cables connect? Which cable goes where?

Step 1:
Connect the broadband modem to the router's WAN or Internet port.
Step 2:
Connect the computer to any available numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4).
NOTE: In this example, we'll connect the computer to port number 3.

NOTE: It is advisable to connect the computer to one of the Ethernet (1, 2, 3 or 4) ports when setting up the router for the first time. If you have successfully configured the router using a wireless computer, unplug the Ethernet cable which connects the computer to the router for you to have wireless Internet connection. For instructions on how to connect the wireless computer to go online using the Linksys router, click here.

Your Linksys Wireless-N Router comes with the Cisco Connect software which makes setting up and managing your Linksys Wireless-N Router a quick and simple experience. You'll have your Linksys Wireless-N Router up and running in no time.

NOTE: The Linksys E2100L router is only available in the U.S. For help on setting up a Valet or Valet Plus, please click here.

Some basic requirements before you begin
i. An active Internet connection.
ii. A computer with a wireless or wired Ethernet adapter, running one of the operating systems below.
- Windows XP with Service Pack 3
- Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 or better
- Windows 7
- Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.9
- Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11
- Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8
- Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.1
Getting started
Provided that the above requirements are met, you can now begin setting up your Linksys Wireless-N Router. In this example, we'll be setting up the Linksys E3000 High Performance Wireless-N Router. The following steps will walk you through the entire process.
Step 1:
Your Linksys Wireless-N Router allows you the freedom of running setup via a wired or wireless connection. Therefore, please start by performing the instructions under the description that best matches the computer you're working with. Proceed to Step 2 once you're done.
Description A:
You are using a computer with no wireless connectivity that is normally connected with an Ethernet cable to your DSL/Cable modem.

Instructions A:
Please connect one end of the supplied Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on your computer, and connect the other end into one of the numbered Ethernet ports at the back of your Linksys Wireless-N Router.
Description B:
You are using a laptop with a built-in wireless adapter.

Instructions B:
If you're using a laptop, please ensure that its wireless feature is switched ON, and that your laptop is positioned within 5 feet of your Linksys Wireless-N Router.
NOTE: Most laptops have a switch that turns its wireless feature ON and OFF. Refer to your laptop's documentation or online help if you're unsure where this switch is. This doesn't apply if you purchased an external wireless adapter separately.
Step 2:
On your computer, insert the supplied Setup CD that came with your Router. Setup should start automatically.

NOTE: If setup doesn't load automatically, please click here.

Step 3:
The first screen greets you with the Software End User License Agreement. Please take a moment to read through and understand the agreement. Once you're ready, go ahead and click Next.

NOTE: The Linksys Wireless-N Router model displayed on the setup screen may vary based on the Linksys Wireless-N Router model you have.
Step 4:
On the next window, please follow the on-screen instructions on how to connect your Linksys Wireless-N Router:
kb21463-002_en.png Plug one end of the power cable into your router and the other end into an electrical outlet.

NOTE: The Linksys E3000 features a power switch, located at the back-end of the unit, next to the power port. Please make sure that this switch is ON. Other Router models may not have this feature.

QUICK TIP: Click Show me how for an illustrated guide on how to complete the above instructions.
After completing the above steps, click Next to continue.

kb21463-005_en.png
Step 5:
Setup will now perform a series of tests to determine the optimum configurations for your network. You may notice your computer connecting and disconnecting to a wireless network several times. This is normal. Your wireless network is simply being secured.
NOTE: The setup process automatically generates a unique and secure Wireless Network Name (SSID) for your convenience.

kb21463-006_en.png Step 6:
The next part of the setup automatically detects your Internet connection type. If you are using a DSL connection, you may be requested to enter your account details. If this is the case, simply enter your Account name and Password in the allocated fields. Otherwise, you may skip ahead to Step 7.
NOTE: If you don't know your Account name and Password, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will be able to provide these details.

QUICK TIP: Click Examples to see what your Account name should look like.

kb21463-007_en.png NOTE: Cable Internet users will not see the above screen.
Step 7:
Sit back and wait a moment as setup finalizes your Linksys Wireless-N Router settings, and re-establishes your Internet connection.

kb21463-008_en.png Step 8:
Once your Internet connection is up and running, a confirmation window similar to the screenshot below will appear on your screen. Your Linksys Wireless-N Router is now secure and connected to the Internet. This concludes the setup process. Click OK to continue.

Step 9:
You will now be taken to the main Cisco Connect window which lets you manage and further personalize your network settings. If you would like to learn more about the available features in Cisco Connect, please click here. Otherwise, you may click on the Close button to exit Cisco Connect, and begin surfing the Internet right away.
NOTE: To launch Cisco Connect again at later time, on a Windows computer, go to Start>All Programs>Cisco Connect. To launch Cisco Connect on a Mac computer, navigate to the Applications folder in Go, and then start Cisco Connect. For more help on this, please click here.

I need to complet my router setup

Have you secured your Linksys from unauthorized access?
The encryption code protects your wireless router from unauthorized access. The wireless card in your computer/laptop needs to be configured with the router's encryption settings before the computer/laptop can access the router.
For details on configuring the wireless router and the wireless card, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

Attempted to secure my wireless and now can't access internet

You do not need the manual or CD
1. Turn off both the linksys and your modem
2. Turn on your and wait for the usual lights to turn solid
3. Turn on the Linksys and wait 30 secs
4. Press the button on the front to the left. It does not look like a button but flashes while it is finding an ip address
5. Now connect with an Ethernet Network Cable and make sure the internet is working
6. Disconnect the cable and Connect Wirelessly
This will connect without any security
To setup the security do the following:-
In order to setup your Wireless Network Key you must first use a cable to connect to your router.
Once connected check that you are connected to the internet by opening Internet Explorer, safari, netscape or other internet browser
The address or the router is usually one of the following values:-
http://192.168.0.1
http://192.168.1.1
http://10.10.0.2
http://192.168.2.1
http://192.168.2.254
Try entering each and see if you get a logon box popping up
If you do, that is the correct address for your Wireless router, note it down.
If the box has the username and password completed, then click OK
If there is no value for username try "admin" and for the password try one of the following "password", "admin",
Also try nothing for the username and "admin" for the password
Sometimes the value for these are written on the underneath of the router
Once the router page is displayed, look for an item called Wireless Settings.
Enter a network name usually called the SSID
Find and enable security
Set to either WPA or WEP
Enter your required value:-

For WPA you may enter any letters and digits

For WEP only hexadecimal characters can be entered and for 64 bit its 10 characters
and for 128 bit it's 26 characters
