Question about Televison & Video

Is it repairable?

I want to purchase a Westinghouse LTV-32W4 32" Flat Panel LCD TV-HDTV at a discounted price due to a defect, but not sure if the repairs will be worth it to buy. Apparently 1/3 of the screen is all blue. Is this common and is it fixable?

Thank you in advance,
Andrea

Well that came out all wrong! First off I don't recall classifying the "Westinghouse LTV-32W4 32" Flat Panel LCD TV-HDTV" as a rear projection, and the link that is associated with my inquiry is opening up as a 47" LG which is also incorrect! Anyhow not sure what I am doing, but hopefully somebody can make this out.

    MyTvGuy,

Thank you for responding so quickly! I happened to call Westinghouse in the mean time as well, and they said the same thing you said. To replace the part you suggested would run 80-90% of the overall value of the unit. My response was, "how much could that be, when they have no value". Anyhow, some people don't get my humor.....Thank you for saving me the expense of a not so good, cheap deal.

    :) Andrea

Hi Andrea,

The store selling this TV should be ashamed. It would require a least one of the circuit boards replaced to cure this type of problem. The cost of these circuit boards are very high and sometimes they are not available. In addition, Westinghouse TVs are not a good brand anymore. Try to stick with Hitachi, Sony, Toshiba, and Panasonic.

Best Regards,

MyTvGuy

P.S. Thanks in advance for rating me!

Sony rear projection lcd hd tv 46 inch...the replacement bulb indicator popped on ....i bought a bulb but haven't replaced it yet. now i see a 1 inch rainbow strip across the top of the tv. from end to...

Replacing the bulb won't fix this problem. This is a defect in the optical block, which is apparently fairly common.
The best way to get in contact with the team that can fix this problem is by facebook. While on facebook, type "I have a defective Sony TV" in the search bar. This will bring up a page that is moderated by the SonyListens Team.
Post a comment about your TV, be sure to list your model number and a description of what's wrong with it. Someone within a few days will give you more information as to what steps to take next. It will seem like a lot of hoops to jump through, but in the end will be worth the time it took, as Sony will offer you huge discounts on a newer TV (I recently went through this, and got a new 3D ready TV for about a quarter of it's suggested retail value). If you are not on facebook, they list a contact email address as SonyListens@am.sony.com
Also worth noting: if you have receipts for recent repairs or replacement bulbs, you can submit them along with the other info, and Sony should adjust the offer price to compensate.
One word of warning though, once you have started this process and have received an offer from Sony, you will only have a week to claim the offer, so make sure you have the funds to put down on a new TV before you start.
Hope this helps! :-)

I need to install a new screen in my lcd tv model # lt-32x576 & i need step by step instructions

First, I must ask you the question, have you already purchased the replacement? If you haven't, have you been given a price on one? Normally, the screen of an LCD isn't replaceable because it contains the most expensive parts of the set. In the industry it's called the panel, and most manufacturers will replace your TV if the panel develops a defect while under warranty. However, if you've actually purchased a new panel or a refurbished one, there are some experts here who may know how to install one. Keep in mind though, that most TV repairmen have never had to replace a panel before. Believe it or not, a new panel for an LCD costs more than what you pay retail for the entire set. I work for 4 different TV manufacturers.

Please post a comment if you need additional assistance so that I can help you further.

For a really good step by step with pictures guide to replace it go to

For a good place to purchase the lamp go to http://www.discount-merchant.com/Original-Zenith-Projection-LCD-TV-Replacement-Lamp-p

I have found they have the best price on these replacement lamps. You might also check Ebay.

Good luck!

RCA Projection TV

That is the average price for a set like this. They no longer make these types of TV sets but this does not make it a bad thing to have. In my opinion and I am sure a lot of others, these sets are more reliable then the newer flat panel sets. As a mater of fact if you do not lay out a couple of grand for a plasma tV set, you will be spending between 200 and 500 bucks within a few years at most for a new bulb for the DLP and LCD set. Make sure you purchase the extended warranty on this set. Normally I would not recommend it, but in 4 years you might have a problem getting parts for this set and they will have to compromise with you. I have heard some peeps get new sets, Good Luck.
