Main oven not working

Have replaced oven element after the last one blew, but now when I switch the oven on the light does not work and the oven does not get hot, nor does the fan work.

Exactly the same problem - the element blew (light and fan but no heat...) so I replaced it and immediately after this the bottom oven would not work -no light, fan or heat. The top oven if fine and there's certainly power to the appliance, sounds like an internal fuse or trip...????

By the way, to get the fan off I simply took off the nut and washer and heated the area around the spindle with a gas torch, then two levers from behind (claw hammer and small nail bar) and it popped right off - no hammering or banging.

When the element blew , it may have taken out either the selector switch or possibly the toc, if the bulb has blown the oven should still heat up .

Blows mains fuse

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  1. Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  2. If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  3. When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

You to check the element with a meter to ensure if you are getting a sapply to it, if you are, then the new element is faulty, if no supply, then probably ythe thermostat is faulty, also check for broken or bad conn ections.

Oven does not work,

Usually the problem is the heating element. This is easy to check and usually inexpensive. There is a video at http://appliancehelponline.com/ovenelementvideo.html that will walk you thru testing and replacing. It may be a different model but the testing and replacement will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available.
If the element checks good it probally blew the relay on the main control board you will know this if you have no power to the element.

Have had 4 Neff oven elements in 2 years, why does this keep happening ? B14241 single oven element keeps blowing, grill and light are fine, any ideas please ? is it time for a new oven ?

If you are not fitting genuine
elements, this is probably the reason they are failing so quickly.
You will pay a lot more for the genuine article, but they will last a lot longer.
Also make sure the fan is working o/k, as this can cause premature element failure.
please rate my solution.
Thanks.

If the fan is running, then it is safe to say that the oven element has gone.
