Hi there. I was experiencing gradual performance degradation and decided to reload my laptop. Before reloadi, I performed a complete backup (which was going to a day and a half) of my laptop. At some point it seemd to have rebooted itself and now wants a HDD Drivelock Password. How do I resolve that? Regards, Rob
Hi Rob,
I know how you feel as my HP pavilion has had the same blue screen ansking for the 'drivelock multibay password' . the good news is i have fixed it just 5 mins ago.
I agree with lucky4lynn2 that you have to get into the bios first. Lets see if I can show you how I helped it to boot up:
I hope you get some joy out of this post and it's not too late for your notebook.
PLEASE NOTE ROB: at this point I noticed that each time that i tried to disable the password it kept returning to the item 'Notebook hard drive' . I thought to myself that maybe this is the password and not just an item on the list, so I carefully wrote down .. Notebook hard drive .. taking note of capitalization and spaces and then exited setup.
above all have fun

Apparently the bios can set this lock itself under certain crashes - H released a bios update to address the issue and stop it happening - but that doesnt help if it has already happened to you - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00737398
Hello, Can you get into the BIOS by pressing F2 at boot? If you can get into bios, click on SECURITY and from there Deactivate the HDD Lock Feature.

By entering F10, I can get into BIOS settings, but the Drivelock password settings are greyed out.
