Hard drive may be faulty - try removing the hard drive and reboot. It may take a while searching for the missing hard drive but it should eventually move on and show - operating system not found. If this is the case then either your hard drive is faulty or the windows installation is corrupted.

Gateway 9310 xl how to reset bios

Turn on your computer and keep hitting the F2 key until you have the option (or are automatically put in) for entering the BIOS setup.
Once you are in, you should be able to hit F9 to select a reset for your BIOS, there may also be more options to reset once you are in.
I am not working on a Gateway so I can't be more specific, sorry.

Hp pavilion dv9000 takes a long time to get past the bios screen. It won't boot of dvd either??

Check BIOS boot options and assign local hard drive as first for faster boot. This is also where you set CD\DVD as first to boot from disc. Look for F Key press on start up. It will be shown on screen. These can vary.

Many HP machines also have a boot menu option during boot. Again an F key and may vary.

Windows won't start up? Well, try this Download Tenorshare Data Recovery from its offical site and install it. Burn it into CD/DVD, or USB flash, put into the computer you need to repair, Bios setting. It can make sure your important data will not lose. Best of luck

HP Pavilion dv9000z 17" Notebook Laptop PC PC Notebook: My Hp laptop turned off by itself and wont turn on...

Make sure your Notebook is not overheat if it is then you have to make sure the fan is working and have to work on the NB by placing it on a hard surface and also BIOS update will also help to resolve the issue.

if in case the notebook is not overheating boot to BIOS screen and check if the Notebook turns off by itself in bios if it does then its a hardware issue and you need to contact manufacturer to service the notebook

My HP Pavilion Dv6700 turns on but nothing on the screen as in its black, BIOS do not show. Please help!

Looks like the post itself fails on the system from what you have told here. Its easy to reset the bios. Download the actual bios flash program on a completely formated usb drive. Fix the usb on your laptop and keep fn+esc keys pressed and switch on the laptop. It will rewrite the bios and once rebooted the system should work. Good Luck.

Turn it on and it wont boot

You need to re-flash bios. I had the same problem and this fixed it!
Follow every step carefully!

First format an USB stick with FAT.

Download the latest BIOS, and put both FLASHIT.EXE and the BIOS file in the root directory of the stick. Rename the BIOS file to ZG5IA32.FD, that's important. Do not remove the USB stick.

(Bios can be downloaded from: http://bit.ly/gUf2a)
Turn the AA1 off, make sure both battery and AC adapter are connected. Press Fn+Esc, keep it pressed and press the power button to turn the AA1 on. Release Fn+Esc after a few seconds, the power button will be blinking. Press the power button once. The AA1 will now initiate the BIOS flash, do not interrupt it under any circumstances. After a while the power button will stop blinking, and the AA1 will reboot shortly after. Wait patiently.

The BIOS has been flashed and all settings reset to default.

If for some reason you made a mistake during the procedure and it doesn't reboot by itself wait 5 minutes before turning it off, just to be safe that it isn't still flashing the BIOS. Source: http://bit.ly/MbbHP

Good luck!

If you don't want to use it at all you can disable it in BIOS. Otherwise you can disable it in device manager, or on whatever programs runs it.
