I recently bought a security system for my home. The Camera opperates in standard deffinition. I need to find a DVR to record on a hard drive that will record at least 200, but preferably 500 hours of the digital feed. I am looking as well to spend as little as possible (A max of 1,000 if possable). Thank you Chris

Hi I am vortash , Just a suggestion but why not just buy a USB video capture device off Ebay and turn an old lap top into a PVR then you can fit an external Hard drive and record for however long the hard drive is capable of ?. You would possibly have greater control of picture search also when trying to find a particular piece of recording . Regards Vortash

How do I hook up my cameras to my Digital Video Recorder (DVR) please?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from film cameras to Home Security CCTV.

This question needs make and model of the system. The search query should be 'make model installation'. There is generic help and diagrams in the link.

How to hookup audio to home security sys

do you have audio cameras, they don't usually give you the audio cameras with a standard setup, on the back of the dvr there is a plug for audio its either a phono plug or a mic input socket, this can be used in one room or outside depending on the mic you have to buy. you then wire this up to the cctv and have to setup the sound to the camara number.

my search did not help, not enough info to do a good search. model numbers may help. the camera number does get info but nothing on the company. you can just get another dvr security system less the cameras and connect these cameras to it and start over. i did that few time just in doing upgrades. the cameras are mostly universal anyway just make sure you connections are the same from the camera to the dvr. sorry i can't help more. but not enough info for a good search. good luck. try ebay for dvr systems for the head unit.
