Question about PC Desktops

I've just bought a SMC7904WBRA-N Wireless router with a SMCWUSBS-N2 Wireless adaptor. It's probably obvious to you but... I want my pc to have a wirelss connection but can I install the adaptor first and use the wirless connection to install the modem, or do I have to use the ethernet connection to install the modem first then install the adaptor? Regards

Best results would be to install everything from a HARD wire connection. Wireless, can drop bits of data depending on interference. I would definately use the ethernet to install everything and then try the wireless.

I have a compaq SR1330 and I was wondering what it would take to make it operate on a wireless connection?

All you require is either a wireless USB adaptor or wireless card.

Nothing else if you already have a wireless router.

ven many of the real cheap USB wireless adaptors are just fine for this type of thing

But if the computer is quite a way from the router then a better quality one with a proper antenna would be preferable.

Have a linksys wireless-n gigabit router and cannot get it to wireless for my laptop

Go into the admin of the router by typing into http://192.168.0.1 (If thats what the gateway is assigned). Use your user id and passsword and go to the wireless settings. If you notebook computer doesn't have a wireless N adaptor, set it for mixed signal. That way you can use it on g adaptors. If it tests fine, then setup your security and/or mac filtering.

Three different wireless cards could not connect to the wireless-G Router I need to confirm WEP and check router settings.

Plug an ethernet cable into the router and laptop, remove the wep key. See if you can connect wireless then. If not sounds like you need to manually remove the the connection from the connection properties (DONT DISABLE THE NETWORK ADAPTOR) then see if you can connect.

My computer doesnt seem to be working with my Belkin router. I have yahoo sbc and my modem works fine, but once I connect it to the router it can't make a connection

I use a belkin wireless adaptor for connecting my PC to the wireless router of trendnet, i observed that belkin adaptor does not work with standard windows wireless networking , i downloaded a separate suite provide by belkin for the purpose and voila- even my 8 yr old son and now reconnect if connection is broken :)

I am unable to connect my A200 Satellite Pro to my wireless internet router and have been advised I need a code to unlock the wireless adaptor inside the machine

its unlikely that you need a code to unlock the wireless adaptor...

you are more than likely to need the 'WEP / WPA' code.

1 - Has your router got an encryption key setup ? if so, then this is what you need.
2 - Is your LAPTOP setup with the same workgroup name as your router ?

I have a ZyXEL P-660HW-TI ADSL wireless router used as the gateway and wireless AP (also the wired ports are used for LAN). It has no VoIP ports. I do have a 2nd ADSL router (not used: no wireless, 1 LAN...

No because the VOIP need to be loged in first. if you have the voip first then the wireless router and you turned off the router dchp section part of the wireless modem then perhaps it will work, plus you need a voip account.

Cannot finish installation (Belkin F5D8633-4 wireless modem router N mimo)

ok, obvious questions first:

Do you have a different modem from TALKTALK? can you connect to the internet through that?

if so, you may not have to set a username and password for the belkin router: just connect the belkin router's internet port to the talktalk modem and let the talktalk modem handle the automatic connection.

do you know what protocol the talktalk ISP uses?  it's probably PPPOE; make certain that your belkin router is set to the correct protocol.  if you just hook it up to the talktalk modem though, you probably won't have to specificy a protocol at all.

Wireless set-up

No, there shouldn't be any other problems associated with it. What kind of computer are you trying to connect? How old is the operating system not to have an integrated 10/100 mbps ethernet port on the motherboard?
