Question about Gateway FPD2275W LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor goes blank.

I have 2 Gateway FPD2275W monitors, in dual monitor mode on a BFG 9800 GT video card. On one of them, DVI seemed to stop working, so I switched to VGA. It powers up normally, and shows video for a couple of seconds, but then the screen blanks. If I go into the menu and select VGA (I can't see the menu, but I can move through the menus, thanks to having an identical monitor that works...), the power button goes to orange, then the monitor wakes up and shows normal video for a couple of seconds, but then the screen blanks again. Yesterday, it "woke up" for a several-hour stretch, but today, it is back to blanking.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I swapped the monitors. Then I moved the faulty monitor to another computer, running Win 7. Same problem. It suddenly cleared up, so I moved it back to its original spot, as second monitor in my studio. It worked a few hours, but this morning, it was back to its bad tricks.

Did you swap the monitors to see if the problem follows or stays at the same video output port since you have dual monitors set up? Need verify before opening up the monitor.

You need a card that will support dual monitor, even if it is VGA and DVI.

My monitor seems to be stuck in sleep mode

This happens when there is no communication with video card. Check cables, re-seat video card, make sure monitor is set to correct mode. VGA (15pin blue), DVI (white), or HDMI.

Hello dave, the only way you can change default setting on resolution is go to > Nvidia Control Panel > Display > Change resolution and click apply. If this option does not work you can go to start> control panel> uninstall a program and remove your old nvidia driver from you computer and reinstall latest driver again, restart computer. I hope this helps you.

The resolution is set too high for your monitor and you have to throttle it down to a lower number.

LCD monitor goes blank

It appears that the display resolution set in your display properties is out of the range that the LCD can display.

Try this.

Boot to the ENABLE VGA MODE by pressing F8 to get the Windows Boot Menu. If you can get to the desktop, then go to display properties, and see if you can change the resolution to higher settings and maintain video. (If the video blanks out, then it should revert to the previous setting in 15 seconds)

Check the signal, is the monitor digital or analog, if your video card has a DVI conenctor, then the monitor should be DVI, so it needs to be set to Digital, If your monitor came with a CD, check to see if it has drivers that need to be installed

Can't use DVI with monitor

You have 3 ports on your graphics card(VGA - 15 pin D-Sub x 1, DVI x 1, and S-Video x 1)Now if you want to use DVI just connect the DVI port to your monitor thats all..
