Pioneer CLD-95 only spins laserdiscs when it feels like it

Hi! I have a Pioneer CLD-95 laserdisc player and it's acting weird. I can play a single disc and it does fine (it even succeeds in auto-reversing the disc), but if I try to run another disc afterward it won't even spin it. The lights on the face display are all fine, but it just won't spin... and it says it's trying to read it from ''Side B''. If I wait a day or two, it'll run a disc. I also have it up on a closet shelf when I run it, so I'm wondering if it's a matter of overheating. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance!

It sounds like the read head assembly is not resetting back to the starting point so it can start off reading the "A" side of the next disc. Probably turning it off and then on resets it back to the start of the "A" side. You might try flipping the disc manually to the "B" side, let it go and then try another disc to see if it works.

I have a Pioneer LaserDisc, model cld-v850, where the the ejection button would not close the disc inserter. It only closes half way. Any help is much appreciated, thank you!

Unplug pc, open cabinet and look for dust and debris , clean with compressed air.
If it's still dirty use 50/50 distilled water and alcohol with a swab. Allow 30 minutes before plugging back in.

My Pioneer CLD-990 only plays through one side of

One of the common causes is a small crack in the ribbon cable that connects the optics assembly to the PC board. This cable is moved all the time when the optics move and when the assembly turns over. This is not a repair I would recommend to a novice. The cable is still available last time I checked and is simple to replace for anyone that has worked on these before. The tray must be removed to do this and it is tricky to re-align properly. I think the cable runs between $20-$30.
