Sounds like you have alot of adware and or spyware on your machine. Look up a free scanner called adaware-se and do a scan to see if anything is found. Typically, adware, spyware will install numerous files on a pc without your consent, naturally not knowing it is happening. If you need further assistance, I'll be more than glad to help.

My computer runs really slow, freezes, internet explorer hardly ever works. help!!

There is no such thing as a windows vista machine. You can install different operating systems on different machines. Your problem is most likely that you're missing drivers for the peripherals.
Download a program called "driver easy" and run it. It will tell you what drivers are missing, once you get all the drivers installed you should find things work better, like once you get your network running then internet explorer will stop having problems.

Choppy playback, keeps stopping to load

Your Internet connection is too slow.
So, your media-player is getting "starved", and thus must "wait" for more content to be downloaded.
Upgrade the speed of your Internet connection, or connect to higher-speed web-servers, such as YouTube.

Home page is slow to come up, and computer is slow when changing programs.

There are lots of things you can do to help your computer to run faster. 1. Use the tools in Internet explorer to clear out your temporary internet files. 2. Use Disk Cleanup in system tools to clear old files. 3. Go to control panel, add/remove programs and uninstall any programs you no longer use or want. 4. Download a free registry scanner and run it regularly. 5. Run the Disk Defragmenter in system tools from time to time. 6.(For advanced users) Use the msconfig program to remove unwanted startup programs. I hope that these things help you.

Hi, im using a brand new acer asprire x1800 desktop..and i can HARDLY connect to the internet using SUN BROADBAND (lan connection already disabled). i have been using the broadband for a few months now....

There could be several possibilities for your internet connection to slow, or stop functioning. Here is a small list of things to check:

1) Run Spybot Search & destroy:
This is a program that will help you find, and eliminate malware, it's free from Here. It also helps speed your PC up by removing unwanted malware that can drain your system's resources.

2) Check your scheduled tasks to determine nothing is set to run during these " down " times.

3) Check to make sure any wireless connections are secured using WEP or other such wifi security. It's a little known fact that people will " pigy-back " on someone's wifi connection to use the internet and download. this can cause internet instability.

4) Call your Internet Service Provider. Your ISP can usually help you determine if the problem is with your computer or their connection.

5) Check your network settings. Your ISP can help you determine the best settings for your connection, as well you may check to see if the network device has an updated driver from the manufacturer.

6) If all else fails, you may wish to take your PC to a licensed technician, or replace the network device if you feel it is faulty.

In my experience most internet instability that happens on a regular basis during a set amount of time is due to malware, or scheduled downloads.

Slow internet on 1 computer

download atf cleaner to the desktop of the slow computer. open it , check the box that says "select all" then click on "clean selected". the first time you run this, it may take a few minutes. this program empties all the junk internet explorer saves, which reduces bandwidth issues. I run mine everytime i get off the internet. after the first run, it runs much quicker, and always run it twice or until you get the message "no files were removed" if you can't get to this point, you should run your virus scanner in safe mode. if your getting fast internet on the other three computers , it's not your provider, it's something between your router and your monitor, usually trash your web browser is trying to update while you are trying to surf. www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1

run this program , post again here if you need further assistance..
Regards..

Computer slows up

Sounds like something is slowly using up all the memory on the PC. I would use the Task Manager to see what program is doing this. To start the Task Manager, go to Start -> Run and type: taskmgr The Task Manager window will then open. Click on the Processes tab. This will list all the programs and how much memory they are utilizing. Click on the Mem Usage column, and this will sort all the programs by memory useage. If you find one using an unusually large amount of memory, select it and press the End Process button. You will then be asked to confirm you want to stop it. Hit Yes. With this process stopped, see if system performance improves. You can also click on the Performance tab and see what the computer's resource utilization is, such as CPU and Memory utilization.
