    • What is your setup (i.e. what speakers, are they wired directly, bridged, etc)?

    • Does the amp turn back on at any point?

    • Where is the amp mounted?
It sounds like the typical symptoms of an overheating amp, but it depends on how it's set up.

Need a wire harness plug for a kdc319

Hi there,

Kenwood adapter looms are readily available from your local Auto Accessory store, of from Ebay.

These are a 'plug & play' solution (pre-wired), which eliminates the need to cut any of your existing vehicle's wiring.

Ideally, you want a single adapter loom with Kenwood plug on one end, with your vehicle's "factory" plug on the other (all common brands are available).

e.g. Kenwood ---> Ford; Kenwood ---> GM etc etc

sounds like your speaker is either the wrong resistance for your amp ie your amp may state 4 ohms and your speaker is 2 ohms which means that the speaker is shorting out the amp and its going into protection mode or the speaker could be burning out and shorting out the amp

could be you don't have enough voltage going into the amp or it could be the pre amp in between. if your voltage is below 11 volts then you need more voltage. you should have at least 12 to 14.4 volts.or you might have a small short in your amp.

Amp cut off

Hello there:
Yes you may have overloaded the amp if you still have a warranty with the amp use it if not and you feel that you may want to troubleshoot it deeper yourself
open the amp up and there will be a small fuse that sits on the electronic board that may need to be replaced also while you are in their check the board out real good to see if you see any burned areas or you smell anything burnt this may indicate a fried part on the board ok?
I hope that this has been very helpful for you
best regards michael

your amp may be overheating, or you have it up too loud and the surge protector is shutting it of in fear of damage to your amp.

Car amp

Make sure your speaker load is right. When you use dual voice coil speakers or more than one speaker per channel and such it can get pretty confusing. If you are bridging the amp be sure you understand how to bridge correctly. It is different than a normal speaker hookup. Also be sure the amp isn't getting hot and that there is nothing blocking it from getting good ventilation all around it.

when your amp cuts out,is it when your stereo is produceing a long low note.if it is then the problem lies within the power distribution from the your sub pulles a long low note it draws a lot of power and sometimes the battery cant supply the power fast enough and the amp cuts out. useing a power cap is one way to solve the problem, but the best option for you to use becouse your running high powered amps is to have a sepparate battery for your audio using a split charging system.when your car battery is fully charged a relay swiches the power so that it charges the audio battery,so your auio system will have constant power without putting stress on your car battery. you can get thes from all good audio shops. hope this helps you.
