Try pushing those reccomended F keys ... it could be a bad Hard drive or bad vedeo card... may also be a hard ware conflict.... check the acer website (on a friends computer) to see if there are any fix sugestions

When I boot My Dell Inspiron 531, it goes to a screen that says it can't find the Floppy Disk Drive, and says, at the bottom, to press F1 to reboot, or F2 to change the settings.

Simply press F2 and the screen probably a blue color with lots of settings you are talking about is BIOS setup. In this setup find a tab named "Boot setting" or something similar and go inside this menu. You will find devices and look for floppy drive and set is "Disabled". Save and exit. Error will disappear.

My acer laptop screen goes black after i pass the log in screen

What you can try to do is hit "Ctrl" + "Alt" + "Delete" which should open task manager once you've reached the black screen. Click "File" from the menu bar and then "New Process". Type "explorer" in the box, and, Voila!, you should be able to see things again.

Sadly, this is indicative of a virus or corruption of the operating system. I'd recommend backing up all your stuff and then tapping "F8" while you're computer is turning on, hitting "Enter" on "Repair my Computer", clicking through the dialog box, and then select the "Acer Recovery" option. This will wipe everything back to factory defaults.

first check your screen and verify if your monitor is problem. you can use known good monitor to verify.
Second, check your VGA cards. you might want to reinstall VGA cards drivers. If you know the brands you might be able to download your driver here.

Ensure that you havent got a cd in the cd rom then reboot, press F2 or Delete to enter the bios and look for boot options, set the primary boot to your harddrive press F10 and press y to save and exit the bios, Press F11 and set that to boot from harddrive and let the computer boot, if it still dosent boot to windows then the hdd has become faulty, or has been wiped of the operating system and windows will need to be reinstalled.

My srceen goes Blank

Hi,

first try booting the laptop and pressing the Fn key with the numerical ( numbered key ) that has a picture of 2 screens on it. This is for booting to an external monitor. you could also try adding an external ( pc monitor ) this will eliminate any motherboard Faults.

Secondly, the graphics chip driver may be corrupt or not installed correctly. if you have a restore cd, you could try booting the laptop, with the cd in the drive.

you can then try, to see if the settings in the bios are all correct, by booting/starting the laptop and pressing esc or F2 or delete immediately as the laptop starts. ** Be-Careful** what you adjust.
My suggestion is to look for. ** default settings tab** or load setup defaults.

these are the obvious things to try, before assuming that you have a faulty graphics chip or motherboard fault.

Try use last known settings that worked. If that doesn't work, reload your operating system, sounds like something might be corrupt.
