Question about Casio EXILIM EX-Z1000 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I dropped my Casio EX-Z1000 on a tile floor. The camera turns on and the lens goes out and quickly retracts and camera shuts off. I can still view pictures on my card and can enter info on date, time, etc. Thanks for any help.

Unfortunitly when ever a digital camera is dropped it can cause the lens to come out of alignment this is what causes the error or problem. The len has several moving parts and can be replace most of the time it knocks the focus motor and zoom motor out of sync thust causing the lens to go out to try and post and sience the camera can tell the alignment is off then the lens goes back in. The repair for this should be around 100.00 I just got through fixing 2 of these for the same problem. Sorry but I hope this helps.

I own a casio exilim ex-z850. it has been showing a lens error, every time i try to take switch it on. the memory card is fine, i view the pictures. but the lens wont open up or anything. please reply...

Hi,
This error indicate that focusing ring got stuck or jammed due sand, dust, may be due to external shock caused by dropping the device.
  • You can gently bump the camera to try to free the focusing ring.
  • You can try to turn camera ON at the table (facing it to the ceiling), don't put camera down face to the floor when opening.
  • If motor is running but lens won't retract sometimes lens would slip off with the gear or break off a tooth in the gear when it gets dropped. Try to gently move the lens barrel around with the finger and see if it is moving, but if tooth or gear is broken lens will move onces or twice then it will stuck again.
Else your camera need to be disassembled to get at the focusing ring at Service Center.

Good luck and have a nice day.
Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

I dropped my camera while the lens was open and now the lens will not close and the camera will not turn on

The drop has likely damaged the lens tube (housing) or jarred the zoom mechanism off of its track. These problems cause the camera to power down quickly to prevent more serious damage, and there is no DIY fix. Sorry, but your camera is in need of professional repair.

My casio EX-Z250 as been accidently dropped onto a soft floor from a small height this as caused the camera to disable itself and will not turn on but the lens as stayed out. I hope you can help....

Sounds like the lens could have been slightly tweaked, making it out of alignment just enough to not fully retract. You can try to GENTLY push it in the opposite direction to see if you can "reseat" it. If not, a service center is probably your best bet at this point...

When I turn on the camera the lens comes out then closes and shuts off. I can view pictures, but the camera mode doesn't work at all. I upgraded the firmware to the latest version, but the problem...

Possible broken spring mount in lens. This spring holds the focus lens. I had the same problem on an EX S600 and was able to fix it by taking the lens assembly out and taking it apart and making a spring mount out of a small piece of wire and glueing it in. This is not an easy job as everything is very tiny. It takes time and patience. Seems the camera tries to autofocus but can't because the spring is not connected. It then just shuts off.

Casio Exilim EX-Z60 won't turn on

This happened to me too, fiddle with the lens as its obviously stuck. Don't be too rough but try to figure out if it is slightly bent.

You will only be able to this if the lens is sticking out a little, enough to get a grip.

Good luck

Turns on for 1/2 second and turns off

It sounds like the focus element inside the lens is stuck. This is usually either due to an impact knocking the elements out of alignment, or to sand/debris entering the focus motor's gear drive and preventing it from rotating. The buzzing sound you hear is the focus motor attempting to rotate, but buzzing up against some obstruction. When the lens extends, you hear a buzzing sound, and then the lens retracts - this is usually the cause of the issue. Unfortunately there is not much you can do externally to fix this problem. The camera will need to be taken apart and repaired by a professional or by the manufacturer. David Millier http://advancecamera.com/repair

A Dropped Camara. Please Read

That is what casio calls a lens error. You will have to send it in and have it fixed. The cameras don't do well even when dropped from that short distance. Call repairs at 800-706-2534 and keep choosing option 1. Tell them that you talked to tech support already otherwise they will try and transfer you to their tech support.
