Hi, I have a Rollei SLR with a dead light-meter, which I would like repaired. I'm in England, can you suggest anywhere? It's an SL35-M. Thanks!

Getting your meter repaired may be an issue. The SL-35M used a CdS light meter, which nobody really used after the 70's, and they contained toxic cadmium, which has been banned for use in most places, which means these metering cells are no longer manufactured for repair market. They were on the verge of being banned in late '05, so I'd assume by now they're long gone. If you shop around, you may be lucky enough to find some shop to have another Rollei they can scrounge a working meter out of - thats assuming the cell is even the issue (have you checked the battery?).

To venture a guess, I'd look online for shops, since most shops dealing with film cameras and their repair have closed their doors in the last 5-10 years with the propogation of digital. You may have better luck contacting Rollei directly, but who knows. Japan has a HUGE affinity for film and film cameras, so if you're able and willing to ship your camera around the world, and can find someone, that may also be a viable option, again you'll need to look online and try to contact a shop to see what they're able to handle.

Expect anywhere from $125-200US for a meter repair.

Connection to Rolleiflex SL2000F SLR

I checked out a SL2000F that had good pictures on eBay. I see a standard hot shoe on the side of the camera. That being said, neither a standard shoe connection nor a pc outlet will give you TTL on the Metz. TTL is Transistor to transistor logic (or for camera store people, through the lens) A sensor that reads the light from the actual plane of the shutter is required to allow the Metz to give TTL operation. It will work on the Auto setting, but the Rollei does not have the sensor as described.

Rolleiflex sl35 mirror stuck in the open position and shutter won't release to send the mirror back down.

Try this: Give the shutter button a few quick, hard pokes with your finger. Don't be shy, you've got to give it a few good jabs. This can get the mirror unstuck. It's helped me before...

No light meter on Vivitar V3800N

It may be that the batteries that came with the camera are dead. Double check the way you have them installed, both cells should have the positive side up as they sit in the cap. It is best to handle button cell batteries on the round edges rather than the flat sides. The battery cap for your camera should have open slots on the sides so you can place the batteries in using those openings

Exposure needle not working

clean the battery cover and contact with a pencil eraser making sure the cap threads are also clean.
this is a fairly expensive repair if the meter or circuit board needs replacing ( no new parts are available ).
if the meter still does not work, and the K1000 is in good working order buy a inexpensive hand held light meter.
