If that fails, try upgrading to wm 6 or wm 6.1 then downgrading afterwards.

Please try the following steps. They could help with your problem. First open this link to hp's download page for your PDA.
Then select your pda's operating system (windows mobile 2003se or windows mobile 5). then from the following page select the ROM update and download it. Try to master reset the pda (you may find informations about this in the user manual). After you reset the device, don't tap anything on the screen (don't follow the welcome wizard or anything it asks you to do). Just connect the usb cable to the computer. Activesync may try to connect to the pda, may fail or things like this. It doesn't matter what does it do as long as it does something. Now open the ROM file you downloaded and press "next" untill the process begins. If the setup asks you to reset the device or things similar, don't do it. Just continue with the setup and "tell" the program you already done that. Make sure your battery is charged before doing this. Also make sure the pda and the computer are left alone these 10 minutes (that's how long it takes to do the ROM update).
If the ROM update fail, please post a comment and give me the error message and code. We will take it from there. Also please inform me what version of windows are you using and eventually an email adress for me to send various service programs required for the next stage (if the rom update fails to work).
I had the same problem which showed the exact screen you're describing and was able to sort it by downloading the ROM update from the HP site - they show it only available for US but works fine on UK machines as well. It takes a short while to install but has restored mine back to normal again. (only problem was incompatability with windows vista - works fine with XP)
Hi. I had this problem with my iPaq and there is a soloution. Unfortunatley. it is impossible to repair whilt you are running vista. HP insists that you run Windows XP or Erlier, with Active Sync installed. We can however give this repair a try. I would need to know first of all what country you are in, and which version of the 6515 you have. i.e a, b, c etc....
At some point when I installed some windows updates, my Outlook started asking if I wanted to allow ActiveSync to access Outlook's data and for how long.
Do you get a dialogue like this when you sync while Outlook is running? Could it be that when it's not running, you aren't given the dialogue and thus permission is not granted to ActiveSync to access the data?
