Are you running a DSL connection, or is it cable? If you have a DSL connection, the router IP and the DSL modem will conflict with each other trying to establish connection. This may be something to call zonenet customer support on to find out if it is possible to change the router IP address so they don't conflict. If you want to basically "PLUG and PLAY" return the zonenet router and get a D-Link wireless router. They are most compatable with DSL connections.

Hey

I need to know a few things about the network.

So you have a motorola modem, could you look at its bottom label and tell me its brand and model.

So that modem is connected to the internet, and a cable from this modem goes to a router yes? no? And is it connected on the DSL, or INTERNET port on the router? most likely separate from other ports and may have different coloring.

And then from there, are you connecting wirelessly to the router or with wires?

How do you hook up the wireless router

First configure your router with below method. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then configure wan settings and lan settings enable wireless if you want to use wifi .Then save settings and restart router. Then connect internet cable from service provider to your router's WAN port.If you want wired internet then connect lan cable from computer to router's lan port. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

I bought a Belkin N Wireless Router F5D8236-4 v2 and changed my internet provider a few months later and I have lost the Installation CD, can I install it without the CD?

Yes you simply need to hook up via an Ethernet cable, open a browser type in the routers address, login with username and password, and then you can edit any setting you like. Then when finished you save settings and reboot router.

I have a ZONET wireless router but don't know how to get my computer to read it

Your computer needs to have a network card to plug into the router 1st, using a CAT 5E network cable, so that you can access the configuration screen or if you have the software for the router you can use the USB port and install it like a peripheral device.

Try using http://10.0.0.1 to access the configuration screen using your internet browser

Once your wireless network is up you need to have a wireless network card in your PC so that you can access the wireless network.

Pressing the wireless button, but it does not light

Typically, if your router is both a wired and wirless, then you have to IP into the router, configure the wireless network and put the encryption key on whatever computers are connecting to it.

typically, default IP is 192.168.1.1

Open explorer and type just: 192.168.1.1 into the address bar and it should open a login box. Use the user/password that is the default for your router.

It may be stamped on the bottom of the router along with the IP address i mentioned above, or similar to, in which you should use that one.

Now once you are in, you configure the system manually such as type of network, channel number, passwords and what not.

If it is a linksys it should have an easy setup CD that will do most of the work for you and is self explanitory.

If you still have trouble, please provide us with the Make and model of the router so we can help you better.

Good luck

My wireless doesn't work at home. the ethernet does but my set up cd wont load.

If you have a router, check if the wireless light or the WLAN light on your router is on. Then, check if your wireless computers can detect other wireless network. You may also do a power cycle in the network.

I have a laptop im trying to set up wireless i have everything i need but dont know how to do it .i also have linksys wireless router as well as a chip that goes to the taptop with a wireless linksys can...

Well Betty can you tell me what type of laptop do you have? Is it fairly new. Some laptops already have wireless cards installed in them.
However on the PC not the laptop...... before hooking anything up insert the software CD from linksys. This will advise you when to hook it up and should also give you some very good pictures on how it should look.
Now provided this goes as simple as it sounds lets reboot that laptop and see if it does not see the wirless router you just set up. If it doesnt I can try and assist you with plan B.
The goal here is to stay away from the difficulties of alot of settings. Good Luck and I will be watching for your response.
I wont see this until tommorrow evening as I am trveling to some sites and wont land in my motel until evening.
